My prelude story: Tell me if I'm missing anything

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and I recently bought a 97 prelude that I thought was a great price... $2500

The body was ok but it had this really ugly custom headlight conversion (98 corolla I think),custom hood scoop set up and wings west wing... I took it back to stock no wing no emblems (black sleeper).

It had a lot of mods including a built block, P&P head, Haltech E6X and a bunch of other stuff. It was smoking pretty good but it was recently taken from turbo to NA without a tune so I just thought it needed to be tuned.

I got it tuned at turbo trix racing in Edison NJ. Because of the low compression pistons (9.0:1) it was only 125whp 115wtq. So for anyone who wants to know what kind of power low compression pistons make NA there it is.

Anyway the smoking problem did not go away so they thought it was the valve guides. I took the car from Turbo trix and brought it to Straight Line in Matawan NJ. The compression and leak down tests came out fine from what the guy told me. Compression was 150 across all pistons. So the head came off. There it sits with no head right now.

The head went to the machine shop checked the head and there was nothing wrong with it. Everything was stock except for the fact the head got a stage 2 port and polish from JG Engine Dynamics. I was expecting there to be aftermarket parts inside but oh well. Now he thinks the rings are bad and the block was not properly decked so the engine is being pulled. We'll see where that leads us. But as of now it has JE Pistons 9.0:1 and Crower Rods.

The current and future mods are as follows: My goal is 500+whp

Now the head is getting:
Skunk2 Pro 1+ cams
Skunk2 Pro Cam gears
Skunk2 Titanium Retainers
Skunk2 Valves +1.0mm (what do you guys think of +1.0mm)
Skunk2 Pro spring (It's weird, they are not on the site and the model numbers I find are the same as b and f series... Does anyone know anything about them?)

Skunk2 Intake Manifold
Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket

Professional Products 68mm Throttle body (recommended by Jeff Evans bc all the other throttle bodies he has used stick) Professional Products 69607 - Professional Products Power Throttle Bodies

I have a Blaast Performance sidewinder exhaust manifold with 3" downpipe (both jet hot coated). preludes (second one down)
Tial 44mm WG (Red)

I will be getting Borg Warner S362 ETT turbo = GT35R (about)
Precision 600hp Intercooler (I'm going to swap it out for the 750)

The charge piping will be 2.75"-3.00"
Tial 50mm BOV (Red)

It has a sump fuel system with Bosch 044 fuel pump and steel braided lines.
It has 1000cc injectors, fuel rail and FPR (IDK the brands)

The trans is grinding when it goes into 5th so I am replacing all the synchros with carbon coated: Synchrotech Transmissions Inc : BSK-SYN101 Type R GSR B16 Bearing Seal and Carbon Synchro KIt (the one I'm getting is for h22)

MFactory Helical LSD

B R Fittings Catch Can: NEW ANODIZED & POLISHED CATCH CAN KITS!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Honda-Tech (B-SERIES CATCH CAN DRAIN BACK KIT)

AEM gauges:
Boost
A/F
Oil press
Fuel Press
What gauge pod should I get?

The Haltec is going to be removed and replaced with Hondata S300 with boost package from Evans Tuning.

Tokico HP Shocks
Ground Control Coilovers
18" rims (idk what kind)
ESP Traction control Bar w/ front torque mount kit

WOW that was long... If you got though it THANKS and let me know what you think and if I'm missing anything.

Thanks
Matt

LOL. Why are you removing a Haltech for a Hondata? That's like replacing a Ferrari with a Yugo.

Everyone that I have spoken to has told me that the haltech is out dated and for a daily driver the E6x is no good.

(Everyone includes Jeff Evans, Turbo trix, clm motorsports)

You would keep the haltech?

He was sick of stuff breaking on him... You know how it is with these higher horsepower cars. Every couple thousand miles there is something new going wrong... I previously had a 385hp STI (nothin wrong besides cluch) and then a 375hp WS6 Trans am (blew engine)... When you go much above stock HP stuff just goes.

IDK... I just saw him tonight... he said that he only drove the car 70 miles before he sold the kit to you. The kit is great as far as I know

That's what I wanted but Jeff Evans really is totally against most throttle bodies bc they stick... If he says something I'm listening!

If Jeff Evans says to ditch the Haltech, then I retract my statement. He knows more about it than I do at this point. In that case, carry on.

From what I heard it put down 405whp on that setup. I'm lookin for 500+whp.

It went to the body shop since you saw it and got rid of those headlights thank God!

I also brought the interior back to stock.

Great turbo choice -- I'm getting the same one... or maybe a S366

That exhaust manifold looks insane, I like it.

I think the total will be around $12-15k for the build... I didn't expect to spend nearly that much but i'm obsessed now and ever free second I have goes to trying to learn as much as possible.

I work in real estate helping people out of forclosure so business is good right thanks to the current state of the economy.

Right now the car is at the shop and the guy is taking his sweet time getting anything done on the car. It's really frustrating to tell you the truth. I will take pics of the parts and stuff as they come in.

How do you post pics up? Can anyone tell me or link in the instructions?
