My Custom DP (56K nono)

On monday I went to Blacktrax (www.blacktrax.net) and had some shizzle done. I had a custom fab. 3 in. downpipe made, a oil feed line re-route and my golden eagle sandwich plate installed.

The Golden eagle sandwich plate is friggin AWESOME! I am running my oil feed line off one output so the turbo gets fresh off the filter oil and off the other 1/8 output, my HKS oil pressure gauge line. There is no leaking and it is the most clean install for the turbo feed.

The downpipe rocks. I cant believe how much power a simple downpipe can give. I had blacktrax remove the cat and put in one of their Y-pipe E cutouts. That Greddy DP sucks soooo much I cant even explain it. The custom 3 in. DP gave noticible gains immediately and makes my turbo spool bout 400-500 rpm sooner. (with the Y pipe open it spools 1K faster!)
http://www.blacktrax.net/ecut.html

This allows me to run an open header whenever I want. I aso had blacktrax make me a replacement portion pipe for times when I need to smog or have a cat. The second piece can be installed in minutes and takes the place of the E-cutout.
Freakin sweet.

I just want to say that blacktrax did a very good work and were highly professional. I would recommend them to anyone seeking any work. Good job.

dayam that's sick. Any plans on getting it on the dyno to see what kind of gains you got from the 3in dp? What were your dyno numbers using the supplied GReddy dp?

the epipe cutout system is super pimp...i wonder how hard it would be for you to wire one up...its just basically an electrical way to open or close the y pipe with the push of a button

I've seen somthing like that for sale on summit I think. but if I remember correctly it didn't come in 3".

BTW thats a very nice job keahistight. I had a 3" custom DP made for my car after the part that bolts to the block on the greddy DP busted off and left me with a huge exhaust leak. too bad the shop I went to had a crack head as their main guy. I wont even post pics of mine. haha oh, then I bottemed out and its a 2 and 3/4 inch now.

do you have any pics of how close it is to your oil pan? I'm running the morrso pan so I had even less room.

LUDExCONDUCT: not going to dyno for a while cuz of $$. my buttdyno definately noticed an improvement.

golfluder01: If you look at the link I supplied on blacktrax's site, the second half of the ECS IS the electric opener motor. It was 7pm when all this finished up so I didnt have time for them to put it on. next time for sure.

Twiggz: i can try to take some today if you would like. Its pretty close. They tucked it up nicely. I have no plans on running a moroso so it will work out ok.
If you want to buy a Y pipe definately go with blacktrax, its the complete kit and its freakin sweet.

Completely custom, I guess so! Most applications seem to use a 2.5" DP to keep the A/C and then taper to a 3" to expand the exhaust.

that one looks like it starts at 2.5 at the flange then goes to 3inch. maybe that little space is all it needs...

I had to retain the flange that bolts to the turbo because its the Greddy kit ... you cant find the flange anywhere. if it was a T3 it would be no prob. What ever the diameter of that flange is it goes to a 3 in directly after it. There was no way around it.

can i ask how much your dp cost.. and then what was the cost to get that "y" pipe welded and installed

my custom 2.5" dp cost me like $200

i then got a new flex pipe, "y" pipe and an extension that let an open exhaust vent out of the passenger side door.. that ran me $160

i can send somebody pictures to whomever wants to post them on the board.. pictures will be taken on sat. when i get tuned

I really would like the Y pipe be before the CAT so I can pass smog, still be legal and still net 10whp. But blacktrax said it can't be done. boo boo...

Any other suggestions what to do with the ECS? And is the ECS definitely better than having a hiflowcat and a aftermarket exhaust?

any exhaust shop will be able to make you a dump tube before the cat.. it's just a matter of if you want to extend the piping out to the passenger side and have a flange welded on

i'll post pics once everything on the car is buttoned up.. right now it's a lil mess

um, just do what i did and get a replacement pipe with a cat on it. you can just switch em out. that way you will have a cat when you need one and net more than 10 because you wont have a cat still in the mix.
I suppose the answer to your second question depends on what setup you are running. with a turbo you want all that crap out of there but with an all motor you do still want some back pressure. Then again, if you were all motor you shouldnt be running 3in piuping.
yes, the ecs adds a bunch when its open.

P.S. i thought i was the only person who said boo boo. hahaha

man this sucks

I really want to be legal and still have ECS.
I would follow your setup keah, but its such a better convenience when you can be legal and press a button then your completely not. You feel a better sense of power.

Do you think this will work: weld the ypipe onto a aftermarket cat, and if there is any extra space between the catback exhaust or the bpipe of the header, add extra piping on it?

I really want it to work out perfectly haha :\

The only way i think you can have this work out is if you have a FULL custom exhaust made. This means the Y pipe BEFORE the cat so when its open you will have no cat in the way. Weld the ECS/y pipe directly to the cat. then you will have to have a custom cat back fabricated because the length will be too long in the ecs/cat set up. you will then have to find a way to run all the O2 wiring correctly which may be difficult due to wire length limitations. That will work just fine.

P.S. even if you do this i dont think a Y pipe is legal I can check if you want tho'
