map sensor question

ok so i have a 99 prelude that i turbo'd and was wondering since im only on 6psi of boost to i really need to run the missing link/check valve? i only ask cause a couple people have told me that the map sensor will read up to about 9-10 psi. if im wrong sorry just kinda made me wonder. oh and im stock ecu by the way cause i have a feeling that probably matters.

I dont know alot about map sensors but i think that right now you are ok, as long as your FMU holds up.

You are correct but you are also missing the second half of the issue. Although the stock MAP sensor can sense 9-11 psi, your ECU can only compensate fuel for about 2 PSI (based on google searches). Any pressure above that will cause your prelude to throw a CEL and your car will go into limp mode.

I just install a turbo kit on my H23 and I had to install a Missing Link. I attempted to use some fish tank check valves from Walmart, but they were too restrictive.

Good luck

you wont need a missing link once you have your ecu. wutever you use, it will clamp the signal or just read the boost so you wont throw a code. for max efficiency / accuracy, you should replace the map sensor w/ an aftermarket one. your tuner will have alot easier time smoothing out af's with an aftermarket map.

I dont know about your current brand of FMU but the greddy turbo kit one will compensate for what the stock ECU cant do like adjusting fuel for boost.
