Low Temp Thermostat

Hi,
I just recently had a turbo installed in my car 92 w/ h22a, and im lookin to find a lower temp thermostat as it is overheating a little bit, it wasnt before the install. I was looking for maybe somewhere around 160, i have seen some for civics, pretty much all year civics and was wondering if they would be compatible with the preludes. Im hoping so, because i cannot find one anywhere for the prelude. If anyone has any info that would be great

Mugen makes a "cooling kit" that consists of a fan switch and a thermostat, it might even come with radiator cap, look to pay about $150 for all three pieces...

A low temp thermostat will not help with overheating, unless your current thermostat is either stuck open or closed. In that case a stock replacement one will still work better.
A lower temp thermostat won't improve the cooling system's thermal capacity, it will just keep you in cold start fuel maps longer.

Try these things instead:
1. check your coolant level.
2. check your water/antifreeze ratio. is the coolant old? replace it!
3. ensure your fans are turning on and radiator cap is holding pressure.
4. put heat sheilding on the exhaust housing and manifold.
5. flush and fill cooling system.
6. fancypants aluminum radiator with increased capacity.
7. make sure your head gasket isn't blown.

We need some more info about when it overheats to give you more suggestions.

I have a Mugen thermostat, fan switch and radiator cap. I love it. I notice it runs approximately 40 degrees F cooler.

I've ran them. I datalogged a 10 degree cooler difference. 40 degrees: I highly doubt that.

That said, if you are having overheating issues with a turbo setup, airflow to your radiator is likely being blocked by your intercooler. If you've ruled out the things Jesse mentioned, then consider upgrading your radiator to an aftermarket aluminum unit.

Cool! Good think I said approximately huh? I have one of those cheap 4 in 1 gauges and it I have the H2O temp hooked up to the coolant temp sender.
