How are you going to control it to 3psi? On external wastegates the lowest I've heard is 5?psi on the deltagate, and 6 on a tial

Hmmm... i know there is more than one boosted lude on here. There are many knoledgable people out there and i would really like some more imput. ive been reading a few more post and it seems that 5 psi may be the least boost i can run.

i would rebuild the motor before i boosted especially with your mileage but that is just me....better to have a freshly built motor then a high mileage motor boosting....you already have a lot of wear and tear on your engine and adding boost will just amplify the wear and tear....btw u can control the boost by getting a boost controller like an avcr or profec b

Well for the money ur gonna spend to put on the turbo and everything, you could just get a new motor, like a jdm h22, and be as fast if u were boosted at 6-7 psi. Plus u would have the advantage of a very low mileage car.

Even if you got a boost controller, the lowest amount of boost would be set by a wastegate. And like I said, the lowest I know of is 5psi vai the deltagate. Another option would be, get a real real small turbo

I have a tial wastegate and been running 2psi for about 2 months now (daily driver) while I'm waiting for my EMS to get installed and tuned. I haven't had a problem and I have 80,000 miles on my car.

? what spring is inside your tial? its a 35mm right? The lowest one they make is a 0.45 bar spring, which translates to 6psi or so

It is a 35mm but it doesn't have a spring. The guy that installed the turbo used a boost controller to get it at 2 psi.

thats weird, anyways the only real thing I disagree with is the
get a new motor, like a jdm h22, and be as fast if u were boosted at 6-7 psi. Plus u would have the advantage of a very low mileage car.

From what I,ve seen the jdm motor is only 20-30 hp more than the usdm motor done through higher comp. and different cams.

and when I ran 7psi in my lude, I raped cars in my weight class with 230-240hp. So I have to say I disagree, sorry

Well what happened is since I didn't want to run at the 5.8psi until I got everything else in, I had him take the spring out and I lost it. Go figure!

Called a few places and they won't send the spring without purchasing the wastegate. I gave up and just got a boost controller.

As far as I know even with a boost controller the lowest you can boost is what your wastegate is set at. I have a boost controller and a wastegate and the lowest I can go is 6psi.

Well, assunig that your IC pressure drop is around 2 psi, if you plug your wastegate signal right at the turbo outlet instead than at the manifold, you will actually have this 2 psi substracted to your 5 psi set by the WG which could very well result in 3-4ish psi boost levels.
Then, when (looking for more HP's) you will be at the max of your wastegate setting, remember that you can gain these 2 psi back by plugging the WG to the manifold.

(I did run 4-5 psi during my break-in period with this same exact method and the wastegate spring was a 7-9psi)

Whatever you do don't use a deltagate, mine spiked to 14 and had to rebuild my engine. They are the s*ttiest wastegates ever.

The only reason why a deltagate would spike to 14 psi is if you make the mistake to plug the "VACUUM" spout (the one besides the adjustment screw) to a place where it sees boost. Then, the door stays closed and boost will spike.

Tial makes .3-bar springs. ~4.5-psi, by the way. I own one.
