Launching an SC lude

How do you launch an SC lude? I haven't been practicing that much but last night a bunch of my friends got together and ran, A lot. My tires spin way to easy has anyone figured out a good lauching technique? Say I rev to 3000rpm drop the clutch and when I grip floor it, will this work? I tried it last night but I got to excited everytime and floored it, losing traction all the way.
Anyways I beat everyone but my buddy almost took me. He has a older civic with everything you can do to a B16, including type r ecu and everything. The bastard is fast, I beat him by three cars then we piled two people in my car and I won by a car and a half.
My point is that he drag races a lot and I dont. I should have beat him by a lot more I think. But I have to figure out a good lauching rpm. He wants to run again because on the forth race we were neck and neck until a car got in front of me and I let off, 4 cops showed up also.
Help me lose my tire spin and reign supreme

Re: Launching an SC lude

i haven't decided this for myself either. it depends a LOT what kind of tires you have. if you have really grippy tires (and i do, either fortunately or unfortunately) you CANNOT let the clutch out fast at a high RPM, or wheel hop will be the very sad result. nonononono.

i used to feather the clutch out at around 5000, just as vtec was engaging, and i believe that was the best technique for a normally powered lude. it consistently gave me the best times.

however, that technique now (feathering the clutch to prevent wheelhop at WOT and high rpm) results in the clutch simply slipping and torching itself. also not good, although i have a brand new clutch and fly waiting to go in.

so, if you have less grippy tires, you probably want to drop the feather at 3500-4000RPM or so and hope it doesn't smoke. remember that you're making as much torque at 3500 as you are at 5000. if the clutch smokes, give it less gas. if the clutch holds and you get wheel hop, give it more clutch. somewhere in there is a combo that will produce a bit of wheelspin and then engagement.

good luck, let us know what you find... and also what kind of tires you're running on. mine are 215/40/17 S-03 Pole Positions.

Check out the boost bypass for the JRSC in the post below and use it in first gear via a switch, then full boost in 2nd up.... I have a home made multi stage boost controller for my turbo, it works perfectly.......3psi in 1st through a tiny switch, 7psi on everything else, a reverse nitrous set-up?????
