JRSC 6-Rib Belt Source?

I bought my Prelude with the supercharger already installed and it had a 5-ribbed belt installed on the 6-ribbed pulleys (jackshaft to supercharger snout, NOT the accessory belt), which is what JR specifies: P/N 5PK525

I'm loosing a few PSI in the upper RPM range through belt slippage and want to get the theoretical 20% more grip of a 6-rib belt.

I've spent a couple hours looking online and called a few stores. The best I've come up with is to use two 3-ribbed belts next to each other, though I'm not 100% sure they will be exactly the right width.

The belt length is approx. 20.5" in length. McMaster Carr offers a 6-ribbed belt in this length, but it is a J-section belt, not K-section, so it doesn't seem to be the proper width, ie. the distance between the ribs is different.

Does anyone know of a valid part number or source for a 6-rib belt that is this short?

+1

The secret is buying tons of high quality belts (like gatorbacks) and continually switching them out

Well, that is totally lame. After poring over a few catalogs, I was coming to the same conclusion.

I ordered 2 3-rib belts and may try that, but am leaning away from it. Does a gatorback belt make a significant difference on this guy? It made a seemingly large improvement over a new POS belt for the long accessory belt.

I had a lot of success switching to the gator back belts. Just remember to check and tighten the short belt often.

I used PepBoys and Autozone brand 20" belts for the longest time. I knew that around 4,000 miles they would literally "explode." The belt might show a tiny fray on the edges and then while you're driving you can't really hear it go, but you notice everything changes in the car, most notably the throttle. Those belts took out a lot of wires when it went with it, most notably my oil pressure wire for my Defi Gauges I've never seen anything rip apart a copper wire quite like that belt did...

I spent an entire day one day trying to find a 6-rib belt but never could. So what I did was, I bought one belt with a 1 year warranty (no way that little short belt could last 1 year), saved my reciept, and then every time it shreaded, I brought it back. They coudln't say anything because it was under warranty. Free belts for life (or as long as you own the supercharger)
