it's not the $,but reliability

i just wanted to get the opinion of you turbo guys.(5th gens) if you had the chance to do it all over again would you go with a car that is already turbo? i really want to go turbo, but it just seems like no matter what you do,how good you tune, our engines just can't hang with FI. i'm seriously thinking of going with a wrx . i drove one today , that bish is bad.comes stock w/ a lsd (for rear dif) short shifter, the awd handles AWESOME,and some other cool things. but i'm a lil hung up on the looks. it'a alright, but it's no lude.anyway, thanks for your 2 cents

Hey. I would definitely do it again but I just started working on it so I have a ways to go. If it was a daily driver I may think twice but I feel much better now that I have another car as a back up. Not as much pressure to get stuff working and I can take my time with everything. I am considering this a hobby and having a damn good time so I don't regret it.

IMO if you are looking for reliability, don't do it. And I think you already know how expensive can be!

I honestly don't think I would do it. I would get something else like a dsm or a 240sx with a sr20det swap. Maybe I'll change my mind when I actually can drive my car again, but I have been looking at sr20 stuff recently. Traction sucks with FWD.

I'm with SilverLudeSi, I'm still thinking of a 240sx with a sr20 swap. But I think its going to wait till I'm done making my Prelude reliable.

i would probably do it again but theres would be something stopping me...like pretty much all the prelude owners here (i dunno what but it seems that most of the people that have the same taste on this are people wit ludes) i would go for the 240 with the sr20det swap..OR rx-7...if reliabilty as a daily driver was in issue..i would go with the boosted lude anyday...RWD isn't good in snow...

I would do it again but would have gotten a standalone beforehand unstead of all the bandaid solutions. If you add up all the cost of the bandaids, i.e. fuel controller, BTM, and what not, they would equal the cost of a standalone. Reliability all depends on tuning, maintainence, and not trying to boost more than your internals can handle. Detonation plays a key role in reliability but that is address with good tuning.

I know my car isn't a turbo, but it is FI so I'll throw in my $0.02 for what it is worth. I've spent way more than I originally planned, but my car now runs exactly the way I wanted it to. I regret nothing and I would do it all again, except maybe with a manual instead of the SS.
