Hp questions

So i have a few questions.
I kinda feel like i've got a good idea of what i need but i just want to make sure.

I've wanted to soup up my motor for a while but i didn't want to turbo it because that's alot of stuff involved but the other day i rode in a turbod 240sx that makes 330 hp.
That inspired me.

So onto the questions.
I've got a 95 si. Which has 160 hp. I plan running 17 to 20 pounds of boost becuase i'm shooting for 300 to 500 hp.
I thought about buying an h22 but that costs money then it would be more money to rebuild it for the seventeen to twenty pounds of boost i want to run. So therefore i've decided to rebuild my motor with all aftermarket/upgrade pieces, the whole shabang. Which should give me a 100 hp gain right? So then i'll have 260 and since i'll have alot of boost it should shoot me into 400 hp right? What are some other ways to eek out some hp so i can break 500?
Am i overlooking anything?
Any thoughts or opinions?

Ok, I gotta ask:

Why do you want 400 hp on a street car?

I ask this, because in my experience, anyone asking for this much power has never actually driven in a car that makes 400hp.

dont think that just building your motor pre-turbo is gonna give you 100 hp. If you do it right you MAY make the same power as you are now due to the lower compression pistons i hope you're looking at running. I don't know how much cash you have to spend, but i'd set aside 5-6000 on a rebuild and a turbo setup to do it correctly. Do it right the first time, it'll save you money in the long run.

I'm not sure why i want that much hp.
I just do. I really really like going fast and i'd like to be one of the fastest cars in my area, and i'm sure that having four to fivehundred hp would help with that.

This is just my opinion, but:

Some cars aren't cut out for high power. I think the Prelude is one of them. I'm not knocking all the users who have put in lots of effort into their motors, but having >300whp in an FWD car is a waste of time. RWD/AWD cars are much much better choices for high power.

Keep in mind that to reach 400whp and have the car actually be driveable, you will need a minimum of $10k to pull this off. It will probably be more in the neighborhood of $15k, judging from people who have done it already.

Oh, one more thing:

I think setting a more reasonable goal of about 250 whp is a great target for the Prelude. Having more than this is extremely dangerous, and you can't really use it on the street anyways without driving like an @sshole.

This may or may not apply to you, since I have no idea how old you are. But for the other readers in this thread, and since I'm on the subject and getting all judgmental right now, I will also add that >250hp + <20 yr old driver = high speed death. I am a pretty responsible driver, and I can say with confidence that if I drove a 300hp car when I was 18, I would have killed myself.

If you are still convinced to dump large amounts of money into the car, then I'll still be here if you ask questions.

Well luckily as of right now i am without a job and haven't yet decided to dump unholy amounts of money into my car yet.
And of course, i am undesicive again. Idk what i'll do. Maybe i'll go with my orininal plan of putting on an h22 head, changing the cams and a few other things and just having 230 ish. Which is still fast. So....who knows.
But it makes me feel better that you'll still be here If i have any questions haha

If you want cheap, reliable horsepower, you might consider an LS2 GTO. I'm looking at getting one in the next few months..

^Yup. It's exactly what she wants (other than that pic being of an 04)......color and everything. I'm trying to talk her into getting the M6 car over the A4, but I doubt she'll do it.

(yes, this car will be for my fiancee)
