how does the inside of your ic pipes look?

I took mine off the other day and noticed that the insides of my pipes where all black. Looks like carbon build up. Could that be from exhaust gas being sucked up by the turbo?

Most likely if you have the WG dumping in your engine bay. Do you have an air filter on the compressor side of the turbo or a dump tube directing the gases down underneath the car?

I've got neither... I'm hoping to make some space once I redo my ic piping with the new intercooler
