Help with Reving on Coldstart

Hey guys i really need help before i get the car tuned i dont know if its right for an s/c to give out this kinda of affect. Okay this is how it goes, when i start the car at a cold start, the engine revs up to 2k it actually climbs to 2k, then it revs up and down from 2k to 1k till the car warms up. Once the car is finished warming up the idle drops back down to alittle under 1k and everythign runs fine. Would anyone have an ideal of what is going on?

how do i go about fixing the fast idle valve, i remember seeing a link about blocking off the flow of the fast idle valve to stop rpm surge, but i couldnt find the link. Would anyone happen to have the link?

I don't have the link, but the process is easily described.

On the bottom of your throttle body is where the fast idle valve is located. It is attached via 2 or 3 bolts. Remove the valve, and fabricate a block off plate (thin metal, thick cardboard, just about anything that will impede airflow) that matches the mating surface between the tb and valve. Place the newly fabricated block off plate in between the tb and valve and reinstall.

I doubt there's an issue with the FIV, unless you've removed the coolant lines that pass coolant through it (FIV bypass). This sounds more like an IACV issue, as it is moved during the JRSC install. Did you remember to plug the IACV electrical connector back in? I can't remember if that would cause the CEL to come on, though.

i'm having the whole car tuned with greddy emanage ripping allt he jr stuff out, the thing i was trying to solve this problem before i pull it into tuning. and yes i did remove the coolant lines before, cause i broke the thermo housing which i had to replace, would that cause anything? i believe thats when my issue started.

Maybe air in the coolant, did you rebleed it after you put the new one on?

First i would try while it was cold to turn the idle screw in till it evens out the idle. then as it warms the computer should compensate for the new air flow rating. See what that does.

If you don't have the coolant lines connected to the throttle body, and this problem started when you removed them, then that very likely is the cause. You would want to block off the FITV as typeshlude said. A piece of cardboard off a cereal box would work as a fine gasket.
