Help with JRSC

I have a 98 sports shifter prelude and I am looking to buy a JRSC. I have been reading around and found out that about 35% of the engines end up to be blown. Then as I asked around people told me that most of that is because those people with the blown engines did the install themselves or didn't have it tuned. My question is basically where can I find out info on what you need to know to run a safe JRSCed engine. I know a little about them but I want to know how to keep them safe, I want to learn about the air fuel ratio and all that. I also want to know what other mods I should do to keep my engine safe. Thanks
