handling at 300-400hp in a Prelude

So I'm curious. Some of you guys have some serious work invested in your turbocharged 4th gens and 5th gens. When you get up to 300whp and above in these cars (I'm assuming an LSD is mandatory at this point), just how well do they handle, especially when you have them on boost going through turns?

Anyone take their turbo Prelude to a racetrack and really push it? Is hard driving still sustainable or can you only make use of your full 300+ horsepower in a sprint?

I am not speaking from personal experience, but my impression thus far is that an inexpensive lsd (like kazz and obx) will be fine for that powerlevel in a striaght line but will fall short above 250 in an autox/hpde environment. Even a quiaffe may not be able to sustain traction in the turns when you are making 225-250 ftlb of trq.

An option to consider (and the one that I am going with) are the clutch type LSD's from ATS. While they are significantly more expensive than other aftermarket lsd's, i think the price is justified in a high torque vehicle designed to handle rather than go in a straight line.

wow, someone from lafayette. i'm from natchitoches!---

anyway- i had 377whp and no LSD, and i can tell you that if you are going around sharp turns, there's no way you'd be able to nail it without going out of control at least a little. fortunately i'm not that worried about the S's, its the I's that i'm more concerned with.

I'll soon be making a lot more power than that, but i think i'm going to invest in a Quaife and the ProDrive 4.7 final gear.

I used to make trips to Natchitoches frequently for work. Assuming you are the guy with the turboed silver 5th gen, I've seen your car a couple times.

i advice you to get an accord tranny for longer ratio. so you streach out the boost longer..

i had m2b4 w/boost @ 10 psi it wasnt fun.. but once i put an accord tranny on it or h23 tranny. the boost last real long.. stock h22 tranny is not ment to be boosted over 10psi it revs out way to fast..

i hardly floor it out of 1st gear. all u goin to do is spinn.. but 2,3,4th gear feel real nice.. as for handling i say is top notch.. w/tein SS & rear sway bar , spoon front bar.. the car never gave out @ any point during a highway race

Okay, taking it down a notch, how is handling the power on curvy, challenging roads or courses with a 6psi or 9psi JRSC 5th Gen?

handling is fine just dont get on it in the corners. A gear dependant boost conrol through an ems is highly suggested. I have boost limited in first gear to only 7psi. This works as a quazi traction control and helps a LOT.

Exactly, it's all about knowing how to drive your car.
