h23 dsm turbo Q'S?

Here's what I'm thinking so far, and best I can find will work.

1st Gen DSM Turbo manifold (from manual tranny car)
2nd Gen DSM Turbo Injectors
Upgraded fuel pump (from 2nd gen DSM??)
S-AFC
MSD Ignition

What I'm wanting to do differently:

TD04 Turbo from WRX
WRX Intercooler
Custom intercooler piping

as far as the piping and mounting the td04 to the manifold i can handle that no problem. I'm just trying to figure out if teh TD04 is too small.

I want boost at a pretty low rpm but don't want to lose it in the top end.

How much boost can a stock H23 safely hold? I want to run around 9 psi

well thats all I can think of for now

the td04 is way too small for the h23, at least the compressor is, check out the charts. I've plotted the h23 on all the mitsu turbo maps, and the only thing that is remotely efficient is a 19c, or 20g. So I bought a 60-1 garrett compressor wheel, and I'm getting that custom machined to fit on my td05-14b (1st get dsm) turbo. I think this will perform well, at least i'm hoping so, and i've only invested 70 for the turbo, and 30 for the wheel.

my thing is I don't need or want to run high boost and I want it cheap right now I'm trying to pickup an intercooler and turbo from a wrx for $220 shipped. Is there a cheap OEM turbo that would work good. Considering mounting it to the manifold is no problem.

i'm not going to run high boost either, i'm looking at 5-7lbs for a while anyway, but if you get a turbo that small It's going to be extremely inefficient. The 60 trim wheel was designed with low boost in mind, and with high efficiencies. I think it's the best compressor wheel for the h23, regardless of how high or how low you're running boost. but i digress, if you you just want something cheap to fool around with get a tdo5-14b, the wrx turbo is a td04-13g which is smaller on both sides of the turbo. The 14b is still too small and very inefficient so intercooler, get some sort of pcv system and be carefull of detonation, but it's the biggest stock turbo your going to get to matt up to a dsm manifold. well unless you can can get ahold of a GMC cyclone or typhoon turbo those are td06-17g, but they're a lot harder to come by and more expensive.

I have a 1st gen DSM turbo manifold up for sale, if you're interested. It bolts up to the 14b turbo.

well as luck would have it one of my friends has a typhoon and just spun the bearing in his turbo. So I'm going to pick it up for $100 and have it rebuilt .

nice, i was looking for one of those forever until i gave up. Have you seen the trailerpark afc?, It seems to be a reasonable alternative to the s-afc.

http://www.carolinahondas.com/forums...ht=trailerpark

though everybody seems to think afc's are crap, I'm considering swapping in a p06 ecu, they're only like $30 but i haven't done too much research on it yet.

I probably won't be installing it till later this year.
I'm wondering how much boost a stock H23 can take before I get anything major out of it.

Well I called around all day and the cheapest place I can find so far to rebuild it is $300 and my friend thought it would be cheaper so he's giving it to me for $50 .

I like that afc thing I'll have to try it.
