OK, First day of the Greddy Turbo Kit install. We Dyno the stock Auto-SS prelude first and got a miserable 148HP at the wheel. The car was change back to bone stock. We have the picture of the turbo kit install posted. Numberous things,
1) Downpipe only have enough space for 50mm. The space below is not big enough.
2) The Battery bracket design is not easy to make
3) Almost everything is straight bolt-on
4) The Heat Shield need to be bent in order to fit.
5) After seeing them install, the turbo kit is not that hard to install. Still recommend a professional to install it.
any guesses why the numbers are ****? please don't say it was the tranny? any plans on migrating that kit to a 5 speed?
I'd like to see a re-install on another prelude (ss), and a re-dyno. Obviously, at 148, i think something went wrong either in the install or in the dynoing process.
best of luck

i think he means they dyno'd the lude after if was returned to bone stock to establich a baseline so they can determine th power gains of the kit after installation and a new dyno session.
do you plan on purchasing an intercooler at all?

haha, OK guys, let me clear this up. We change the our prelude back to stock in order to get a baseline. We change the exhaust to stock, header back to stock, and reinstall the intake as well. Put it on the Dyno with a Bone stock Prelude Auto-ss. I put out 148HP at the wheel. Thanks to the Auto tranny, it produce a miserable 47HP lost. Honda rated the Prelude Auto at 195HP. The number 148HP is not for the prelude with the turbo kit. We will be finish hopefully today and get the Dyno going. I am expecting around 200-225Hp at the wheel.
*yes, I do plan on getting the Intercooler. After the Intercooler, I will raise the boost and hopefully get the headgasket from Greddy as well when it is released. Plan on boost around 9-10psi safely and gain around 250HP at the wheel. We will see how we do today.

Yeah, I want to clean the engine bay but they have not put in the engine oil and also changing a lot of stuff like radiator coolant and auto tranny oil. I think I will wait until everything is finish then start cleaning!!

that is all u are expecting? I got 173.1 to the wheel w/ basic bolt-ons....and u are only expecting 25 more w/ the turbo
First, I like to say this. This is an Auto tranny Prelude. We are not expecting to produce massive amount of HP. Also, without the Intercooler, we cannot get the full potential of the turbo out. Also, the California emission crap also make CA prelude produce lower number due to emission. There is a lot of factor you need to put in. If you are makes 173.1 at the wheel, that is great. Our car does not produce that number. Every car is different, it might produce tons of power on your and not mine. It is basically up to the tunning part basically. Thanks!!
When I contacted Greddy they said that the kit would work on an 01 lude...but someone on this already said that they were pissed that they had an 01 and couldn't get the kit (at least thats what I read out of it). Did Greddy Lie to me?

Who did you talk at Greddy? Unless they already release a new kit, which I have not heard, the current turbo kit is only for the 97-99 prelude. It says that on the manual and the box of the turbo kit. Thanks!!

truthfully if you where going through the hassle of getting a new ecu, i would get a p28 obdI civic ecu and have hondata redo fuel, igntion, ect. maps. a stage 2b really won't run you very much and you get get rid of the greddy fuel management unit. to tell you the truth the turbo kit will work fine with a 2001 prelude, you'll just have to deliver fuel by means other than the greddy FCU which is better off anyway. a piggback fcu and in jackson racings case, EMS is often the cheapest way to go for a company but performance wise, basically sucks.
what is with that turqoise coloring with the greddy turbo kit? i really couldn't deal with that, but from the looks of your engine bay you don't mind! clean that thing, jeez.
you really should have waited and saved a little more mone yand gotten the greddy front mount IC. you would have saved labor, and the gains are very well worth it. im guessing 20 -30 additional horsepower. you'll need some incredible tuning to hit 225whp with that setup. i just dont' see it possible, especially without the greddy front mount.
That is good. Good to hear someone had a Auto-SS that produce Horsepower. That just mean my prelude sucks!! I believe the car need more tunning since the engine has already 78,000 miles on it. Like I said before, every car is different. My car would probably only make 200HP with the turbo kit. On the other hand, on 97Blacklude, he can probably make 230-245HP. You cannot just take my number and expect your prelude to get the same outcome!!

No turbo kit for the Type-SH yet from Greddy.

You bet, cannot wait until it finish and go psssh, pssh with my car!!

I agree with you. Changing a ECU is not easy and the only difference the the fuel curve from 00-01 Prelude. I already mention the engine bay cleaning, we will do it once the turbo kit finish. Don't want to clean it and then get oil all over the place again. As for labor, I am not worried as we are getting everything done at my friends place. Dyno and everything!!

Changing to the Fluidyne radiator so took out the stock one. Thanks!!
