Funny story...

Was driving down the road today and started hearing the detonation sound--ie gravel being tossed against sheet metal-- well I immediately retard the timing, but keep hearing it-- I'm thinking Oh SH*t, barely had the JRSC on a month and now the engines about to go boom...soon as I left that section of road didnt hear it again all day--until i crossed over it again on the way back- ...then it dawned on me...I was driving through a contruction zone...IT WAS GRAVEL being kicked up- talk about a scare-- anyways just thought you guys would get a kick out of this-
BTW-- changed to new plugs- the old ones showed major signs of running rich- I have the timing retarded 9-10 clicks, any way of fixing that a bit w/out tuning- Pcola is like a desert for tuning- closest ones are in Tallahasse and Atlanta- Im taking it out to Tallahasse probably next weekend (hopefully)- not alot of spare time lately. Anyways Ive only run it hard/boosted maybe 3 times since getting it put on and never for more than a couple minutes at max- any chance of screwing something up majorly by doing this w/out being tuned? Its funny..since Ive had it on, my driving has actually improved since I've been babying it more than usual

D

well this afternoon got me thinking-- what if I really did blow my engine? I do try and not rag out the engine and take great care of it...but I can't afford a new engine, let alone a new car- this car's got to last me a good 8-9 years- and with F/I I dont think that is going to happen-- I think I am going the track on others before me and bailing on FI...infact I think I'm going to go completely back to stock...except for I,H,P-- its been a fun month- but I dont have the money to get the car to the point where I would be comfortable in taking it to the track and NOT doing immense harm to the engine- my original plan was that-- but other things have come along and priorities change...It was a great feeling flying down the road hearing the whine of the JRSC, but I need the car for another 7 years-- and with the tranny probs the prelude has...I need warranty coverage. So thanks to all, but I think I to am bowing out...

how much do you want for the JRSC? I was going to buy mtmoore01057's but I haven't gotten a response from him. Hopefully he's just gone for the weekend or something, let me know if you wanna sell yours though

woosies i hate that fake detonation sound, i freakin hear it when i know its impossible, i'm like at 10:1 airfuel at those rpms and its still "detonating" of course it ends up being a screw tinkling around or just some gravel on the road. Oh well glad you had fun with it. the thought crossed my mind but i'm gonna stick with it, once i get my injectors i'll be happy.

yeah --It was worth it for the short time I had it, it was a lot of fun playing around with and upkeeping-taught me alot about my car, and if this wasnt my primary drive (actually ONLY drive) I'd keep it and build up. but I figure wait a few years till insurance rates go down, I get my nice HUGE, tax-free aviation re-upping bonus from good ole uncle same..and go get a porsche or M3 (or whatever else they have out in 7-10 yrs).
