For fuel pressure gauge, I was thinking of getting the mechanical type that mounts outside of the car...
The description tells me that i need a braided stainless steel lining and mounting cups...
I can't seem to find this from nopi... can I substitute these parts from local hardware store? doew anyone have any experience w/ this particular gauge?
i'm not sure what you mean by "outside" the car. you mean on the hood or something??!! if you mean *under* the hood, you certainly don't need stainless steel lines and mounting cups. you could just get the $30 B&M bauge and mount it on the filter, or tap the sealing cap on the fuel rail, or tap the sealing nut on the fuel rail. iranman did a writeup of his b&m install a while ago.
however, an underhood gauge won't be of all that much use with the jrsc because it can never tell you the peak fuel pressure (since that is only acheived under full boost.) i would recommend an in cockpit gauge with a remote sender. mount the sender on the fuel filter or tap a short ss line into the cap or sealing nut on the fuel rail.
you can get short premade lengths of stainless braided rubber line with pre-attached npt fittings for <$10 from mcmaster-carr. the diameter of the ones with 1/8" fittings is only 3/16, which isn't enough for your primary fuel line but plenty for a gauge.

I was concerned about fuel pressure gauge, so that I could properly set the fuel adjustment, so I assummed that I could just get the "mechanical fuel pressure gauge from autometer," since it is three times cheaper... and just mount it within the engine for tuning purpose...
What sort of gague/setup did JRSC users get for the purpose of tuning it?
to repeat myself, the problem with an underhood gauge is that you can not tell what the pressure is under boost. if the static pressure is set too high, the fuel pump will not flow enough fuel at peak pressure and the pressure will start to drop off. not good.
of course if you're on a dyno, you could see this happening even with an underhood gauge.
even so, i'd recommend an autometer full sweep in cabin (electrical) fp gauge, or the greddy or apex'i or defi equivalent. the half sweep gauge works fine too, but they have an unresolved leak issue with the sender. heh.

sup schwett. a mechanic told me that it is better to have the gauge under the hood because the gauge line or wutever may leak. and if the gauge is in the cockpit it would not be good. so if i get a full sweep autometer fuel pressure gauge and mount it on a pod it should be fine? because i need to know the f/p under wot. correct? and do u know how much the autometer electrical full sweep f/p 2 1/16 gauges cost?

you do not run a fuel line into the cockpit. slap your mechanic upside the head for thinking that is an option.
the in cockpit gauges have a fuel pressure SENDER which mounts under the hood, and then a pair of wires going to the gauge. sorta like all the other gauges that honda put in your car.
about 200 bucks if i recall.

would u happen to know which model it is? on the autometer website there are 3 types of electrical full sweep gauges.
5761 - 0-15 psi
5763 - 0-100 psi
5764 - Hi-Lo 0-100 psi
i duno the difference. could u reccomend the best one?

the 2 1/16" phantom full sweep fuel pressure gauge you want is 5763, unless you want "hi-lo" which is the 5764.

not of much use imho.
you could also call them and see what's up with with half sweep gauge. it's less than half the price, but not listed anymore because of the leak, i guess.

Only because you will only be able to see the fuel pressure gauge while under the hood. If you do as has been implied and put both the underhood and an electric, full sweep in the cabin, you will have the best of both worlds: one under the hood for tuning, one in the cabin for monitoring while driving (plus you will be able to verify the in-cabin electric gauge with the underhood mechanical gauge). You can substitute the male/female fitting that comes with the b&m with one that has a second female port, allowing you to hook both up to the banjo bolt that is supplied with the b&m.
