fuel delivery and upgrading fuel lines...

hey everybody,

I had a questions about the fuel lines, at what point will I have to replace my fuel lines? besides boost rate is it determined by fuel pressure? what about injector size?

EFI and ignition systems are my weak point, when I boost it up to 15 PSI what fuel upgrades will I have to do? I'll be controlling it with a Haltech or Hondata, but what about the following:

-intank fuel pump?
-fuel pressure regulator?
-fuel lines?
-fuel rail?
-what did I miss?

Fuel line needs are determined by flow. It depends on how much fuel you're going to supply. I've heard of 500hp b-series cars with stock fuel lines. I don't believe it's all that necessary to upgrade the lines themselves. Of course when you look at the tiny holes in the fuel filter banjo bolt you gotta wonder about the restriction it causes.

I've upgraded all the line in the engine bay from the fuel filter to the return hard lines with -6 braided line. I mostly did this because I've had an STR fuel rail sitting here for about a year that I got for a really good deal.

For a pump, I would go with one of the Walbro intank pumps. At 35-40 psi these guys will flow more than you'll need for 15psi. I have one of the Bosch pumps from Endyn, but I got it when I thought I'd be running high fuel pressures. It's overkill now and it rattles my teeth with the noise it makes.

Bosch makes a small pump that is good up to 350-375whp. It fits pretty well in the tank with just a small amount of cutting on the bottom of the input of the pump. It doesn't increase pressure at idle which is nice.
