FMU and fuel pump question

I know because of the pressure insrease from running an FMU, it's recommended to upgrade the fuel pump.

My question is, if i plan on running only 3-4 psi, do I still need the upgraded pump? Since obviously the pressure isn't going to be as high as if I was running 6+ PSI like most people do.

My planned setup:

Drag gen 2 mani/dp
FMIC
t3/t4 included in drag kit
12:1 FMU
Wastegate still to be decided (any suggestions?)
V-AFC for fine-tuning

You should upgrade the pump. The stock pump is designed to flow at stock pressures. Even at 4 psi, you are asking the pump to flow at more than 50 psi more of pressure (stock 1:1 fpr, 12:1 FMU).

How are you going to run only 3-4 psi? Are there wastegates with springs that allow such low boost?

There should be wastegates with low PSI springs already, if not then I'll have to make my own spring

And I guess a fuel pump would be highly recommended, but not absolutely necessary? Might as well get one just to be safe...

1. I don't want to worry about reliability issues.
2. I don't like having to refill my nitrous bottle, and my 55 shot is probably about the same power as running 4 psi.
3. I don't want to have to do extensive tuning. When I beef up my internals is whel I'll up the boost

basically this whole setup, which should be quite reliable, will cost me just under $2k CDN. I'm selling my nitrous and fogs for ~$1k CDN.

And I found the Tial 35mm has 4psi-10psi springs available.

i still think u should be around 5-6 .. stock boost. as long as you keep an eye out for boost spikes, and dont booost in 5th gear. have good tuning ii think u should be able to have a decent amount of reliablitly.

That's just it though, I want the most reliability I can get with spending the least. I have no doubt I could run 6psi on this setup, but I don't want to risk it

From a roll with a friend with an AWD TSi who runs a 14.5, we're dead even from 40mph-100mph without the nitrous.

With the nitrous I put about 5 cars on him in the same distance.

Haven't run at the track with the nitrous yet, but I will be running her tomorrow, looking for a low 14
