Fmax turbo troubles

My friend has a 2000 prelude and recently installed a Fmax kit, the problem is that his check engine light comes on after a while when he hits around 5000 rpm . He heard he needs to hook up a resistor to the O2 sensor, he also purchased the missing link from fmax which he thought might help the problem that might have the engine light shut off, also another two things he hasnt done is retard the timing could this be a problem? also he is purchasing hondata to maybe solve this problem , would this help? any input would be helpful

You don't need a standalone, but you better find out what that code is.
