fmax info page

The fmax kit is obviously the most plug and play kit available for the prelude, I have the kit and I really think it's a pretty decent kit, especially considering the 5th gen's less then desirable stock condition for installing a turbo.

Ok, so I went back today and read their info page, and what I don't understand is, they know that releasing into atmosphere is like %50 more powerful then not doing that. Releasing into atmosphere is just dumping the wastegate gasses into atmosphere instead of into the downpipe. How much gas is the wastegate releasing? Is it just releasing a hell of a lot of exhaust so it uses a lot of the thoroughput of the downpipe, or is it released back into the pipe too soon and cuasing turbulence and poor flow? I think it's the latter, but before I go drop a hundred bucks getting my downpipe altered to dump back in right before it goes to the cat, I wondered if anyone else had a theory. Also, there isn't enough room for this new wastegate plumbing to have nice round bends to get around the downpipe, should that cause any problems?

BTW, for this conversation I'm ignoring the fact that the dyno is at best an overacheivement since it doesn't have the ideal headgasket and the btm is set to 0, but it's reasonable to get 90-95% of their claim, safely, and I think that justifies the cost of the kit.

On the "other" board, a fellow that dynoed his car with the f-max did it with no exhaust and with. With the exhaust on, it was @ 240whp..... Don't worry about low #s, join the club.....
