Fmax DP

Hey guys,
As you prolly know I am in the middle of installing my fmax kit. Well I was gettting ready to bolt the dp on, and got it all in to place when I realized they sent me the wrong one. It is about 10" to short. I think they sent the dp for a 5th gen. Which makes me really mad! I am just glad I hadn't already made it open loop. I did have one of the bungs welded shut, but that was only like 10 bux. I called them today, and he was like"Uh....I will get back to you later." Then I called later today, and he said he would call me in the morning.
Question:
I think I am gonna just have them make the new one open loop. Think they can make it 3" as well? Is it worth it to get it 3" and what kind of modification would be necessary? I think I would have to notch the sub frame, anyone clear this up for me?
Also is it worth it to get a 3" dp?
Thanks,
Josh

FMAX doesn't make a different downpipe for the 5th vs 4th gen's.

Would be a $50 muffler shop job to extend the dp 10" to your car.

Hey,
Is that true? He said there is a different one. I did just want to extend it, but the O2 sensor bung is the wrong size too. I am also just mad at fmax, cause I ordered open loop and they sent closed loop.

Thanks,
Josh

I was told that by FMAX probably 10 months ago. Maybe they've started doing better job, I haven't had a chance to take a look at any recent FMAX kits.

O2 sensor bung the wrong size? How'd they screw that up? Their aren't that many different sizes. Muffler shop would weld one in for ya though. Cost maybe $5.

The SH and Base model downpipe are different legnths.

There should be two O2 sensor bung holes. Both are different size. One should work, the other doesn't.

actually they do have 2 different kinds of DP's... an open loop, which i have sitting next to me, and a closed loop one, which i think is the 'normal' one

if that helps anyone out....

Hey,
Yeah, thanks guys! I think they are just jerkin me around. Well I thought that the bung that was facing up would be the O2 one since that is the stock location, so I had a piece welded into the other hole so it wouldn't leak. Yeah I ordered a open loop dp, but they sent the wrong one, and I couldn't get a hold of them to fix it. Now this problem just kinda p-ed me off. How hard is it to make it open loop? I know you guys have done it.
Thanks,
Josh

Hey guys,
Well Scott from fmax called me back today. He said they only have one size vtec down pipe. He was not aware of the fact that the 4th gen needs a long pipe. So I told him to weld the vtec cat flange onto the non vtec dp (h23), cause he told me it is about 10" longer. If this works, I am gonna tell him to start sendin that out with the kits for 93-96 vtec preludes. That way no one will have to deal with it again.
They are also makin it open loop for me ! I can't wait!!!!

Hey,
Yeah I don't know, maybe most of the 4th gens are h23. That is the one that I am getting because he said it is the right length. The couple of people I have talked to with 4th gen h22 had this problem.
Thanks,
Josh
