Well after 5 months in the shop, I am going to pick up my car from inline on Friday. I still have a lot of work to do once I get it back, but I will at least have a driveable car again. Here is how they are going to break it in for me if anyone is interested. I know this goes against what some other people think. Hold it at a steady rpm for 15-20 mins, change the oil, put it on the dyno. After this the rings should be seated.

In 15-20 minutes of steady state w/o load? I'm guessing it's going to be on boost too... I will never see the point of building an engine up and then destroying it since you don't to break it in correctly. But, it's not my motor...
Maybe that's why, they deal with race motors which are designed to be torn down after every other race. <shrug> Whenever I've talked to an engine builder I've been told to properly seat everything it takes at least 500 miles in varying RPM levels. What kind of rings did you use on your pistons?
Inline also builds a lot of street motors and I don't think they earned their good reputation by building motors that don't last. If you read honda-tech, you will see that a lot of people think the 500-1000 mile break-in is unnecessary. The rings will seat fairly quickly and after that, there really is nothing left to break in. I admit it scares me a little bit, but I think I can trust inline. As far as rings, I really have no idea what they used - maybe je.

I've read this post also and it makes sense since the rings are the only components that need to be seated. The rest of the components like the main and rod bearings don't need to be broken in.
Thats what the shop did with my car when I got it back...I cought **** about it, but they do it for a living, not me, so I think I should trust them....It did blow up again though....but thats because of a damn vaccum line popping off, make sure you ziptie all your Vaccum lines on so it doesn't happen to you.
i used hastings rings...i think me and SilverLudeSI kind of did the same thing at the same time, i should be picking my car up this week..crossing fingers...
