ERL MF2 Question
I have been reading this forum for about a year now just trying to absorb as much info from you guys as possible. Very informative.
Anyway, I am strongly considering the F-Max kit for my 95 Si. But it seems that the MF2 gets some bad (or at leat negative) remarks on this board.
My question is this. Is it really that bad?
I have read concerns about it not being able to distribute fuel evenly to all cylinders. But it seems to me this is a very similar setup to throttle body injection. Granted, the injectors are further down stream, but the principle is the same. And GM has been running TBI in their trucks for years.
I have in the past owned, and currently own, vehicles with TBI. I have never had any trouble with fuel distribution. I had an 89 Blazer with the 4.3 liter TBI engine. I currently own an 88 Blazer that has been converted to a 5.7 liter Suburban TBI engine. I have also had a 95 Tahoe with the 5.7 liter TBI engine. None of these vehicles have ever had problems running lean, detonation, or other fuel delivery problems.
When I look at it, the MF2 is actually feeding less displacement than TBI with more injectors. Right now my truck has 2 injectors feeding 5.7 liters of displacement. That is 1 injector for 2.85 liters. The MF2 runs two injectors for 2.3 litres.
I agree that the MF2 and TBI are not the most efficient means of fuel delivery. But I believe that a well tuned MF2 can do very well at low boost pressures.
Please correct me if I am wrong. I just wonder if I am going to be building a car running no more than 7 psi if I really need a stand alone, or will the MF2 be good enough. Is the MF2 deserving of it's negative remarks, or is it just because stand alone is better?
