Engine Management: ROM Editors

Well after using Uberdata forEVER, I was still using version 1.66, and when 1.7 came out Uberdata switched to 16 bit fuel maps, and for whatever reason I was having horrible problems retuning, 1.7 and 1.9x would not read the right vac column, very weird stuff, so I finally switched over to CROME today, since they have made quite a bit of ground in the community..

IMO they have surpassed Uberdata in just about every department.. I started out with a B16 map, thats right you heard correctly.. then I adjusted the fuel multipliers for my injectors and it had this feature where you entered in your engine size and it "guestimated" the correct fuel for the new engine.. well I did that, added boost columns and set all my rev/cut/launch limiters.. took it out for a spin, well holy ****, it was RIGHT on.. low 15:1 at idle, high 14:1 at just about all loads, of course I had to add some fuel around 5k rpms because of the HUGE difference in the peak torque of a B16 compared to my H23.. but I couldn't believe how well it worked! Still runnin pig rich in boost, but I just got it running tonight after weeks of trying to get uberdata running..

The latest CROME has all of the features too like ECT/IAT adjust, cold start fuel trim, individual cylinder fuel trim, launch limiters and just about anything else you could think of..

So if you haven't tried CROME, give it a shot

I've been working on uberdata and never have made the switch to crome... i'm starting to consider it more since so many people are so impressed by it. Did you buy it or grab the freebie?

I always wondered why there was so much *****ing about uberdata, i've used it now and i know why... that thing needs some structure. The app is good it just needs to be organized... I got a chance to play with neptune also... that is realy good software, not perfect and has little bugs but better than most. The guy who wrote it is a sharp guy...

When neptune comes out for the end user it will obliterate everything out there... wireless tuning? that's innovation...

I am using the free one, they are working on implementing wireless into CROME right now as well

I am suprised Uberdata seems to be dying, if he would release the source then atleast let some of the community continue developing!

with my old map around 11.9ish at 4 psi, and 11.4ish at 7 psi, I didnt' have time to retune the 7 psi column when I turned it up, but I probably would have tuned to around 11.7..

haven't had the time to tune the new one yet.. damn school

You know what I think that's true... that's the point of open source... it just lacks so much structure it seems. It's too bad because it had alot of potential...

anyway, the neptune i got to look at when i got the thing put on my sh, i just got to look around on it when my tuner did his thing. he showed me a few things on it and kinda a few things he had problems with etc... i didnt get alot of time on it or anything, just got a chance to look at the features and small problems it has.

I also pm'd the guy who wrote it and just talked about a few things with him, he's a cool cat and knows his stuff. He's been doing this a very long time it seems...

too bad my car is still not making power, jason got the afr dead on at 12 across the board but I cant find the problem with the thing... 13psi and was only able to break 200whp @#$!@#$

This is on an F22?

Hmm, what turbo are you using? checked base timing? that is very strange!

geeez I can't believe that!!!! what is your max timing at? i have H22 timing maps if you want em, you should be at like 300 whp at 13 psi with that turbo I'd say..

how is your compression? man even that wouldn't warrant that output unless it was absolutely horrible, I am confused lol..

compression is fine across th board... everything appears to be in working order. I was hoping for 300whp when i showed up but we couldnt get much out of the car, it sounded great on th dyno... idles fine and drives fine.

jason(st00pid) said it liked the timing since that's how we were able to break 200whp but it wouldnt go anywhere... I'll put my graph up tonight, it breaks up in higher rpms but not sure why... anywy i should get it today.

where'd the 100whp go?
