Emissions Test with Hondata

k, I live in maryland and they use the on board diagnotic test to scan the ecu. I have a 98 turboed prelude with S300 hondata and they will not pass me cause it does not read cause of the OBD1 in there now. They told me I can't even get a waiver either if i spend over $450 cause they said i have modified it. They won't put me on the rollers either. This guy told me to just spend $14 every month and just fail, but i dont want to do that. My question is what do I need to do to get this car to pass emissions? Im out of ideas (unless turn back to stock).

You have to run an OBD2 ECU. You can get away with this if you wire your wastegate open, so you don't make any boost. It should be good enough to run the engine ok.

Artifex, i have 650cc injectors in my car now, i would have to probably put the stock ones back in and cut a rewire the oem injector clips too? If so, that seems like a pain.

a friend of mine has to do that same thing on his civic, thats why whenever i do turbo i'm going to get the injector clips with my injectors and make sure to leave plenty of wire if i need to rewire the old ones. But as far as i know i think you are going to have to.

Yes, you have to do this. I thought this was common knowledge for aftermarket...

Passing emissions with a turbo is hard. For certain states, it's very hard.

If you dont feel like cutting your injector clips every time buy some injectors close to stock size from the same company that makes your 650cc injectors, then just swap the injectors and wire your wastegate open like artifex said.

It will be more expensive than getting the clips (which I have just pm me if you want them) but in the long run will be easier to do come emissions time every year or two.

geramy, that is a good idea Thanks. They are RC, but they only make 270cc and 310cc and i think stock is 280cc. Which ones do you think would be better to get? I don't want the 310cc to be to rich, then fail.

just to inform you all...you wouldn't have to keep cutting your wires if you go this route:

Honda Clip Connector

just a lil info for you all

good luck with your emissions

I would probably go with the smaller for the reason that you stated...

and that is the first time I have seen those adapters and I have never heard of anyone using them.

If you live in MD and want to get around emissions theres only three ways. First would be a repair waiver, and depending on the location you go to some ppl there will be a##s and say it wont work with a waiver, some will waive you, Second you pay someone off or make a friend if your lucky but thats rare. Third would be lower your car where it wont get over the rollers. I speak from experience i have been waived three times. First was by a repair waiver, second and third was cause of being extremly low with a body kit cause they are afraid there be responisble for damage to your car. I hope one of these will help you. Mine has been extended to july cause my car was in the shop so i feel ya frustration cause i have to put my stock wheels on and adjust my coilovers everytime to get around this crap and then put my 18's back on the next day.
