Built Motor - burn oil?

Hi,

It's been a while since I've posted.....

I ditched NA for FI a year ago.

Built h22a1 Motor, sleeved, Arias 9CR pistons, Eagle rods... skunk2 head (stock cams).

Been running 6 psi for this past year, going to up the boost to 12 psi now.

I'm curious for those that rebuilt their motors, do you still burn any oil?

this year, I've driving about 3000+ km, with one track day, which I drove about 150km in that one day..... I daily vtec+boost.....

I've had to refil about 0.4L of oil. I'm running Motul 10W40 oil.

first of all, your car is sick.

second of all, it's an H22, they burn oil whether you rebuild them or not...at least that's my experience.

^ thanks bro! your ex-lude looks sick... I recall reading your threads before my built, I think. Was your motor built? still burned oil?

In the past I burned about 1L per 1000km, which was a lot.... I thought I wouldn't have to ever add oil, with a rebuilt...

anyone else chim in?

I burn oil as well. I think it's just normal and more so with FI cars.

but a liter per 1000km, that just seems like alot, i may have burnt 1/4-1/2 quart between oil changes (3000 miles). I'd make sure everything is still sealed and properly tightened.

that was before when I was running NA. I rebuild it because it burned so much oil. Now with built motor, it's still under 10,000km, but I've burned about 300ml to 400ml with about 3,000km + 1 track day.

I think most of it is due to the heat in the turbo and probably the ringlands until the motor gets up to operating temps.

my built motor has about 12k on it so far and it doesn't burn much oil at all. I change the oil every 5k and I think it was down about 100ml one time. The car has been down the 1/4 mile over 50 passes in those 12k with a lot of hard driving on the highway, dyno etc. But it is NA, maybe that makes a difference?

Mine didnt burn a drop. If you are only burining 0.4 Quarts in between 3K-4K oil changes then its nothing to worry about as the H22 loves its oil. If its more then it sounds like a clearance is out of whack some where in the build, probably in the piston ringing. Do the Arias come with 3 rings or 2?
