Another SC'ed lude

Blude is finally boostn'. Yup, I did the entire install myself with a little help from a jealous friend. I thought, "hell, I work on 30 million dollar planes, I should be able to do this". All in all, it wasn't that difficult. I'd say mostly time consuming for the sake of being meticulous. I don't consider myself an "auto mechanic" by any means, just a guy with common sense, good instructions and the right tools. Has anyone else done their own install?

It took me about 12 hours to complete. It was like putting together an expensive puzzle. Fittment was good with the exception of a few items. The fuel filter was kind of a pain to swap out. A few bolts were tough to get to to tighten. The jackshaft drive adapter was a little tricky to line up onto the manifold plate. The intake had to be hacked down to fit into place. Otherwise, not too bad.

I do have an item of concern. I just want to make sure I connected the thin plastic vacuum line that connects to the EMS unit correctly. If someone can look at their setup and trace the connections, then it'll help me out. Step 87 in the instructions is what I am referring to, and for some reason, I don't feel right about the way I did it.

Anyway, the car seems to be running fine. I had a little ABS line rubbage until I bent them down more. I had some belt slippage until I tightened them. Now it's time for some guages and a vpac. 2,750 off a group buy and free installation. You can't beat that.

Tell us why you don't feel right about the way you did it.

Exactly how did you set it up?

well, most of step 87 is just telling you how to get the
line into the cockpit. i assume you can manage that part!

if you have the stock airbox and resonator, there is a vaccum
line routed from the rear/drivers side of the blower housing
to the ICS hardware (you did this in step 63.)

the ICS hardware is a flattish box that sits UNDER the stock
air piping, or if you used the ghetto air hose that came with
the kit, under that. it is a rectangle with a kind of concave
depression in it. the JR instructions tell you to put a T
fitting in that line. you just cut the line and put in a barb
fitting T. the third end of the T goes to a little rubber elbow
whose sole purpose in life is to make the 1/8" black nylon
vacuum line mate with the 1/4" (5/16"?) rubber vacuum line.

now, if you don't have the ICS in your car (you removed the
resonator and/or stock airbox), then you can simply run a vacuum
line from the same free port on the blower housing and mate it
with the 1/8" black nylon vacuum line anywhere you please.
