550+WHP almost here!!

OK guys....I'm almost done putting everything back together. I've had to fabricate a few things on the new setup to get everything to fit together right, plus i've added quite a few new things that have taken some time to install, but i'm almost finished.

Not a great pic, but that's the position it was in last time i took pics. it's almost completely finished now.

fuel pump is pretty low to the ground, but unfortunately its as high as i could put it while still being lower than the sump in the tank. i mounted it in a good place to not be hit by anything, so hopefully i'll be alright. i'll probably later put a tank in the trunk so i won't have to worry about this problem.

Here's a nice interior pic. it's still dirty and i hadn't yet added the switches in the din panel cover, but you get the idea. this is a pretty rare site for a 5th gen since these pods were custom made for me.

My new setup consists of:

==BLOCK==

Manley Rods
Endyn Rollerwave pistons- 9.5:1 c/r

-----Buck Lemoine for supplying most of the parts at cost, and engine assembly, plus just going through a bunch of B.S. for me. I really appreciate all he's done for me, he's a great friend (with a 9 sec. civic by the way). check out his article in the newest D-Sport. (blue civic hatch w/gold rims).
-----My friend Ronnie Smith for doing all of my welding.
-----My buddies Chris and Cody Pullig, Nathan Gallineau for misc. help on motor install.
-----Stan @ Fast-Turbo
-----Autometer Tech. Dept. for being the best customer service i've EVER seen. They've sent me new free stuff to replace old stuff on more than one occasion. I HIGHLY recommend Autometer Products because they stand behind them 110%.
-----My GF Shanna for putting up with me spending more hours under the car than over her.
-----My Mom for washing my dirty greasy clothes every day.

I will be tuning with Jason (st00pid) hopefully here in a couple of weeks....I just need to install all the vacuum lines, bolt down the manifold/turbo, and downpipe. install i/c piping, install egt probe, all new fluids (oil, trans. fluid, clutch fluid, water, fuel) and maybe a couple other little tiny things, and i should be able to start her up. I'm looking to make upwards of 550whp.

I'll post up pics as soon as i get a chance.

I'd really like to know how a 550 horsepower Prelude drives day to day, and in twisty roads.

I know it'll go fast in a straight line but how is the cornering balance affected?

It's probably extremely hard to drive in the twisties, especially considering i haven't even installed the Quaife yet. The car won't be driven day to day on this much power. on pump gas it should make closer to around 400whp, and then when boost is turned down from that even less. so not hammering on it all the time will just be like a normal fast sports car. Hopefully if i take care of her right she'll last me a while. if not, i'll just pick another project again.

One thing, in addition to the Quaife, that should help a lot are traction bars. I tried in vain to get Anthony from AV Engineering to make some for the 5th gen, but he never got around to it (despite having a 25+ ppl wait list). If you can find a fabricator, I am guessing it will make a big drivability difference for high power cars. There is already a lot of compliance in the rubber as is, and high tq values will worsen this problem. Also, the spherical LCA bushings might help also. Once you get into the big TQ domain, lots of unwanted forces start acting on the front suspension members.

I had a Quaife on my N/A Prelude, and it was by far one of the best mods I ever did. They are not simple to install, but completely worth it.

Sweet. jason is in tulsa right now tuning some cars for me and my friends. he made 606 hp on a race hatch yesterday on 116. He also tune another tubo prelude for me. Its a guy on this board ludevtec95, he got a really conservative tune and put out 234 hp and 212 torque with a tubonetics kit. He is from minisota so he was going for reliability.

Hey Chris, did you take off the front main bracket to mount the intercooler?

my mani is just how he described. no bling and wastegate is in original location off to the side more. by the way, i like what you've done there. i didn't want to go modifying mine, but i've thought about it. the location where the w/g is at now is bad for boost creep, and doesn't allow for a strait dumptube.

if you are referring to the front bumper support, then yes, i removed it. its only useful if you're about to die anyways. it just makes the other people die too.

Removing it also turns a $500 "bump" into a total loss...

Someone else on this board removed the bumper support and got into a fender-bender... the front of the car just smooshed; it ended up totalling his car.

just something to think about...

Wow dude, it looks great! With that motor and an SC-1 you should be able to hit 500 on high boost. The only thing that scares me ... and if I was driving it would scare me to death ... is that there is an EXPOSED fuel line. I wouldnt be too worried about the pump but if anything hits that line while you are driving it could pull of an end and you would have fuel spilling all over the place.
This could severly damage your motor if it happened under boost and if the fuel spilling out would happen to catch fire ... well.
Move that line man.

Though I'm no guru on FI, I was thinking the same thing. I mean it with no disrespect, but you put A LOT of time and money into this awesome set up. I would just take a little bit of time and patience and see if you can come up with an alternative, or atleast protect it a little more. That makes me really nervous for your set up.

Great work!
