536 hp on a stock short block?

Is that possible, I couldn't see a factory H22 making more then 300 hp on the factory lower end but this guy is claiming MUCH more on a Neptune tune.

Neptune offers extremely fine controls over all the "little" things that really help longevity.

Tuning is one thing but eventually that added power has to stress the parts to point of failure. It's obvious that Nepture sure can make great power/gains when tuned correctly however 536 on a stock short block?

The motor did give. A valve guide failed, dropping a valve and causing tons of havoc.

I cant let this one go ... a shortblock means just the block ... a long block is the block and head ... so you really cant make any power on a short block because there is no head on it. Sorry, just one of those things that bugs me. Well, that and the s2k.

^^^ If htat was meant towards my thread title I dont think you're correct in correcting me. My question was about that type of power being made on a stock short block. Saying you cant make any power without the head is silly, thats like saying you cant make any power without fuel. The reason I was surprised is due to the large number of people with bad ringlands etc... I would also think the rods would be pretty stressed under that type of power level.

Apparently they beat the **** out the motor too, dragged it at the tracks serveral times. When it failed they were suprised that it was the top end that gave, not the bottom.

Bottom line, these motors are robust if care is taken with planning, parts, and tuning. The H22 is my favorite motor of all time, and that's saying alot from someone who used to be a Chevy guy.
