50,000 mile update

Hey everyone,

I think i finally passed the 50K boosted miles mark sometime recently and thought of you guys.

FYI, this is a Hondata-tuned 6psi JRSC setup. First of all, the car still runs *knock on wood*. I'm actually quite impressed it's lasted this long with only minor/usual problems throughout the way. JRSC-wise, the only things I've encountered are the usual belt replacements, that annoying 3500-4000RPM throttle vibration noise that i've learned to live with (more like I don't feel like taking the time to diagnose), and losing bearings on one of jackshaft assembly pullies. As everyone knows, the pullies are expensive ($80), and I think I can already hear some of the other ones starting to give way as well... *shrugs* I"ve noticed some extra oil loss around the PCV valve and even some around the valve cover, but no other major problems.

Otherwise the power's still there, though I haven't dynoed it in years. I know i'm still tuned rich, as evidenced by my crappy gas mileage and the clouds of soot I unleash when I do romp on the throttle. No doubt this and my grandma-esque driving have played a large part in allowing the engine to survive this long.

I had the chance to have a compression test completed a few months ago and got the following:
1 - 215, 2 - 195, 3 - 220, 4- 195.
So they're all within 10% of each other and that keeps me happy.

- Sina

OMG Sina, I didn't know you were still a member here. IIRC, you were one of the first JRSC installations (at least that talked about it online). Very cool that you have passed the 50k mark.

Iranman paved the way for a lot of us JRSC guys. The info that him and Sharkcohen contributed has really helped me a lot. It's good to see your car is still running strong

Sup Sina

Great to hear you still have the car and the setup, hope things are going well with you as well.

I now have nearly 30,000 miles on my JRSC setup, more than half with 9 psi. It's been nearly 3 years.

I didnt realize you still had the car. Your information on here helped me make the jump to the JR supercharger.

just over 40k and no real problems...I have some of the small things just like you, but nothing major.

I have about 10k at 9psi. on the stock JR electronics!!! Yeah Im a little crazy, but at this altitude I aint having any problems and it is boosting about what I had with the 6psi pulley at sea level.

Congrats on hitting 50k! I should be there soon!

Wow...I figured you sold the lude and moved on. As stated, you paved the way And glad to hear its still running well after 50k. I wish I could grandma drive, but I think I have some kind of illness.

Don't be such a stranger around here...it was good to see a post from you

I'll throw my .02 in here. I also have a hondata tunned JRSC. I've put 106,000km on my car now. Every mile has been with the JRSC installed. about 100,000km were at 6psi, and the last 6k were at 9psi. No problems so far. I've tracked the car, and dragged it a couple times. no problems. I think the JR kit is very safe when tunned correctly.
