01 Prelude type sh turbo question.

hey guys, iv'e been searching for a long time now for any info on boosting my 01 prelude type sh. iv'e pretty much heard all the issues with atts and im at a dead stop. my car has abt 50k original miles(last owner was an old lady who didnt know what she had). so far i've been maintaining my car, and i am ready for the next step. now i just need a lil bit of advice/direction from you guys as to weather it can be done safely. im talking about boosting my car @ 8psi for daily driving. some say it can be done others think its a waste of time. im just trying to find out if i can do it properly. i live in queens, ny and i was also wondering if anyone could recommend a reliable shop to me.
car specs. 5th gen lude,h22a4/dc headers/hks hi power exhaust. only mods.
i hate to be a bother and i wouldn't ask if i didnt need all the help i could get.
as you know the atts is a tricky m/****er.
iv'e heard abt replacing my tranny and using a base tranny, but im really wondering if it can be done on mine as is. thanks in advanced.

wow, 50k original miles? thats very impressive. You should check out the force induction faq. Theres plenty of info there that can help you achieve what your looking for. Btw, doesn't new york have harsh emissions law?

Your engine won't bolt up to a base transmission. You would need a tune (and a built engine) with a turbo, and to tune it you would need an OBD I ECU. If you switch ECU's ATTS won't work, it will just be dead weight.
