My goal for this car is to run a 13.9 in the 1/4 mile.
Here is my setup thus far:
Power: AEM CAI/S2 IM/Hondata IM Gasket/Type One Racing Header(2.36'' collector), 2.25'' Test Pipe, 2.25'' Thermal Exhaust, Hondata S200 on a P28. Dynoed around 188WHP/140TQ
Suspension:TEIN SS Coilovers,Stock Wheels,Falken Ziex 512 tires.
Transmission: Stock Tranny, Clutch, and Flywheel.
Weight Reduction: I have stripped out the back of my car. The weight reduced from the items taken out is 117lbs, factor in another 15lbs for lighter I/H/E and that comes to 132lbs. So the curb weight from 2950 is now 2817.
I think the 3 area's I need to address are my power, traction, and transmission.
I'm installing a Euro-R manifold and Type S cams. I'm betting that will net me about 200WHP. As for traction, I'm going to invest in a set up BFG D/R's which will also mean I will have to switch to a 15'' wheel. For my transmission needs, I'm thinking of an EXEDY stage 2 clutch with the thick disk. I'm not sure if i'll need an LSD to hit a 13.9 but every little bit helps. If I do go the LSD route it will definatly be a quaife. I am also going to invest in a real short shifter (P-Spec or 4Bidden).
Do you all think this will get me into the 13.9 range? Suggestion and Comments are always welcome!
you would need more drastic weight redux. and probably turbo. remove a/c, p/s, balancer belt. a better header (i'm not familiar with yours currently) etc...
there are some ppl on this board who have 200whp and have far less mods than you.
and just a reminder that preludes aren't known for their drag racing abilities
edit:
and they dont' make a 4bidden shifter for 5th gens yet, jeremy is only in the testing phase i do believe

i was making about 220whp before i hit 13s. i never did any weight redux. i went with smaller wheels (15s) and BFGs. you know my engine build on the 4 wheel scales with me in the car its at 3170.

The weather was great 59F and 39 Humidity with a 18.19 on the Absolute Baro.
There was no one in the other lane, so i was waiting for someone when the lights came down. I wasn't sure to wait or to go.Then they gave me the signal, I revveed it and took off. I think I launched from 7,000 RPM and feathered it out. I have never launched so hard in my life. I can't believe that crazy 60ft on all season Falken Ziex 512 Tires. Next step...slicks!
I've got an appointment at my local speed shop for next tuesday. I'm gonna order some Drag Slicks and Welds drag racing wheels. I'm gonna hit 13.9 no problem. I'll keep you all posted with my progress. I will be running open header at the track as well.
Well around there. I can't be sure exactly because I revved up really quick and took off.
It might of been a little below that, 6,800 perhaps.
The weather was so perfect. In the back of my mind i thought, "i know i shouldn't". But I went for it, and am pleased with the results. My car hooked like crazy. Don't try this your first time out at the track. I've been practicing launching for a drag racing season and a half.
To get 13's im sure your going to need a LSD tranny a JUN 10pnd ( i think theres a 8png also) flywheel. probalyy a SMSP header.that will get you into the 190whp range adn to the high 13
i'm ordering some slicks and weld's drag racing wheels tommorow. My cousin and I are going to put on my SPC extreme 4 wheel camber kit and the ingalls "stiffy" engine damper, take her in for an alignment then hopefully hit the track before school starts. Then in october i'll be at mir for some nice numbers. Stay tuned for a 13.9 with 188WHP on an open differential. Gotta give respect to the h22a4 like my girl above.
I believe the rev limiter restriction, only applies to the JDM H22 ecu's (p13?).
Plus I have a p28 with hondata installed. I can rev my motor to 8 while in neutral.
