Went to track last night, not so good..

99 prelude SS.
Mods- CAI, Apex N1 cat back.
Also had 18inch motegi Mr7s which are very heavy, next time i am rolling on stockies.

It was a pretty good night, track was great, but my times were not. I had no problem heating them up at the pit,but as i held the brake and got ready to launch i let off and the rpms just die down.I didnt even get into 3rd gear Vtec, that's sad. Is there any other things to do that i can make it launch better, I was thinking of tightening the throttle cable so it idles higher and that way it dont drop as much when i let off the gas, then get my vtec contoller tuned and installed and i am thinking about getting pullies and a 50 shot dry kit,i should be high 15's but dont wanna get my hopes up to much. I ran a 17.1 @ 83, and 16.9 @87, i was to embarrased to do a 3rd run,is there anything else u guys can recommend to make it faster.

ya get a 5sp swap. Anyways i dont think power braking works well with the SS. I think youd be alot better off letting go of the brake and then giving it half throttle until 3k then full throttle.

It's an SS, what do you expect? They're slow. They are good for driving in traffic though.

yea i realized it's an SS, but i was trying to figure out better ways to get a lower ET. If the SS was built better it would be a faster car,if u could only get the parts like mustangs and camaros have, like high stall torque converters, better clutched and just built better. If u could do that and get it to hold up a SS trans would fly.

There are companies that make upgraded transmission parts for the SS, Level Ten comes to mind. However, the gearing in the trannies still hurts performance. You CAN'T launch at 5000ish PRMS as you could in a 5 speed. SS Preludes are at a severe disadvantage in drag racing.

fast and furious: Like i said, if it WAS built right and u could do serious mods to it it would definitely haul ass, because if muscle cars are autos and they run 10's then if the prelude trans was good it would be able to launch it great and push it down the track, i am just saying if it was possible, i know it's not.
CD55: yeah i know about level 10 but not enough people have used them and have heard mixed reviews, then if i have problems i gotta rip it out and ship it to Cali which is a hassle. I just bought MSD stage 2 and a 50 shot of Nitrous and pullies, after this i am getting it tuned cause i am running really rich and it needs to be tuned, i'll keep u posted on the new times,

Don't waste money on the SS. Save the money on a swap or a different Lude. That's all I can think of, sorry.
