FYI, I owned 2 preludes before. One '98 with NOS and the other
'99 with turbo. These cars run 15.1-15.2 stock. I personally did
15.1s with a intake and a exhaust. Not a good driver but not bad.
I am not very active on this forum as I don't own any preludes
anymore but I'm reading here once in a while. I am now active
at S2ki.com as I'm a S2000 owner.
Here's the story...
I went to the Drag Strip (sears point raceway in california)
with my boy in his integra as we just put in some bolt-on parts.
So there guys with the 5th gen preludes (like 3-5 of them) came
into the lanes and they caught my attention as I am former
Prelude owner. All cars are fixed up, none of them are stock.
Some with kits, some are just Wings West add-on. So there
we go and race, couple of runs, this one White prelude w/
black window kit staged up against a truck, I guess he didn't
count the lights right and jump the red. He stopped and didn't
go, the tech told him just run and he got pissed and did a ****ty
20 sec run. Okay, what was stupid and made me shame is that
he tried busting some turns on the way back and then crash
head on to a maintainance vehicle. The strip was close about
1 hour just for him and after the towing truck tow down his car,
the front front end was gone, air bags popped, his girlfriend shocked,...etc. Everyone was shocked and the white boys were
talking mad trash.

He did a couple of runs before he crashed his car and they're all in 15.5-16s.
His friends are better........a little. A silver prelude w/ WW kit I think and but he was hitting mid to high 15s w/ a intake, exhaust, header, AEM pulley kit and some other bolt ons I didn't
remember. He was shocked when his friend crashed though.
This guy w/ with the dark grey/green prelude with a JRSC unit.
I was hearing all these stories about JRSC kit for the 'lude and how it made 230hp at the wheels. I saw the JRSC unit for the
1st time in my life at SEMA at Las Vegas and that was back then when the kit was prototype and not even being sold to the public yet......JR showed me the dyno and it says around 230whp....
By paper racing, this car
should at least be in the high 13s. low 14s at least. But he was
running sorry times when my friend asked him. His dail-in was
14.5 and he ran a 14.8 that run I saw him. He even did a few
low 15s runs.
Well, I had fun. The integra we worked on hit a 14.9 with
intake, ecu, r manifold, and stock cat and stock exhaust. And
sadly enough, his (my boy's) integra was the fastest there
that night. There are a few turbo hondas in the high 13s and 14s, those are some fast cars.
I just thought I'd share this drag story with you all. Not starting
a flame or putting prelude owners down 'cuz I like preludes and
I used to own 2 of them. Later. RACE SAFELY.
