quater mile improvement

i went back to river city raceway friday night and ran a 15.23 on my first run...was my best run all night too:

RT...... .8342
60'...... 2.5226
330..... 6.5626
1/8th... 9.9176
mph.. 73.04
1000.... 12.7909
1/4..... 15.2314
mph.... 93.12

whats the lowest 60ft time a stock h22 can get? i can't seem to break 2.45. i have a video of one of my runs but it needs to be transferred to computer. i dropped tire pressure down to 25 in the front, brought up to 3500rpm and feather the clutch untill i felt traction. i'd be awesome if i could hit 15.1 on a 9yr old, 130k mile h22a1. please give my any pointers to improve.

Dude your 60 ft is killing you. If you get it into 2.2 you got a 14 sec car. Best I've done is 2.2 sec on stock tires.

2.2 is definitely possible, especially on stock tires. I think I dropped my pressure down to 18 psi, and launch at 4500 rpm

i drop my tire pressure to 20 PSI in the front and launch at 3000 RPM just dumping the clutch. i get some wheel hop but get consistant 2.24X 60 foot times.

i think if i can run a 9.4 in the 1/8th mile and a 12.141 in the 1000ft, your h22 can do a lot better with a strong launch like mine. give it a shot.... by the way, great times

later,
tim

Hey man, next time you go down tell me. I will give you a few pointers and maybe I can try to drive your car a few times, with you in it so you know what I'm doing.

If you're launching like that, you should invest in some ES mounts... mine are on the way, and we share virtually the same launching technique, except I don't just flat out DROP the clutch, I feather it a tad.

alright blitz, if you don't fix your car before the next time i go to the track i'll pick you up. i really want to hit 14's if you guys really think it's possible. will those motor mounts increase 60ft times? i'll get em for 30 bucks if they'll help me get into 14 seconds. thanks for the input Tim i'll try your method next time. do you really dump the clutch?

yes, i just pop the clutch as hard as i can. I have tried feathering it and all that other fancy sh*t, but i always got 2.3X's and 2.4X's in the 60 foot, so i said screw it and stuck to the basics. now that i have new tires, i think i can get some 2.1X 60 foots Ill post my results from this coming weekend when i get back.

later,
tim

launching at 3k will never get you a 2.2 60 ft time, i'm assuming whoever said that has a 4th gen SI, anyways... if you're getting wheelhop get the inserts, install just the first one and see if thts all you need. if you put the rear mount in the vibration gets bad but wheelhop dissapears.

if you go to the faq i did a write up on launching, but the track is really hard if you're at a sucky one. 4500rpm is going to be your lowest rpm to go from to get a 2.2, if you have a smoth track launch in vtec and slip the clutch. i did this and got great launches n/a but my stock clutch would burn up and keep slipping after it took off if you have a good clutch try it!

I'd need a few practice runs first... you know... to get acquainted with the track and all...

i launch at 5200 stright out of the hole already on the high cam....slipping the clutch, i pull 2.2s and 2.1s all day on stock tires...no problemo! also ....when my car hits third gear its just plain rediculous...pulls like i have nitrous or something....also...the inserts are awesome and will eliminate all wheel hop, they dont transfer that much vibration in either...peace

I launch at 5000K, drop the clutch, but feather the GAS. This got my a 2.1 60 ft, but my clutch started slipping, I am pretty sure with a good clutch I can get a 2.0 no problem.

I drop it at 3000-3500. Good for very low 2.2's with blown shocks. Exedy clutch, JUN flywheel, OEM LSD.
