Need some help with the 1/4...

Hey guys. I finally took my car to the track. I raced alot of cars that are supposed to be fast on the street, and usually beat them or at least keep up (RSX, S2K, b18c civics, etc) I keep up with a swapped civic that supposedly runs low 14s. I had really high hopes but was really disappointed when I actually got to run... I got nervous a bunch of times and could not get a really good launch.. It was pretty cold weather for FL too, I believe 40's and was really unprepared for the track surface. Here is my time slip, I hope you guys can help me lower my time, and I know my 60ft time is really bad..

60ft - 2.462
330 - 6.596
1/8 - 9.835
1/8MPH - 76.21
1000 - 12.606
1/4 - 14.924
1/4MPH - 96.52

Any input would be helpful.

well in 1/8th i trapped 76 and managed 9.4 w/ 60' 2.3.
lower that 60' and you well do way better. your car should be a in the 14.5 area. especially w/ 40 degrees weather.

our 60' suck nuts cause there are some luders pulling 2.2. and if they can do it so should us.

Yea I hear that. I think I am going to lower my tire pressure more the next time I go the the track. I know it'll probably lower the trap speed, but I need to experiment.

Yea definitely I think your 60' is the factor that's hurting your time the most. The trap speed sounds fine....it could be a little low - not so sure on that. But keep in mind that even if you do manage a 2.2sec 60', and you still don't get the 1/4 mile time you want, there are a lot of variables that affect the drag strip. One major element is elevation.

Other than that, lower the tire pressure, make sure to feather the clutch, and shift quickliy and precisely - don't slam it into each gear.

Best of luck

isn't a good 60' a mark of a skilled driver?

yea, i agree, your 60' time is hurting you, your trap speed seems perfectly fine. in the 1/8 i also trap 76mph and run 9.2x times with yoko tires, that should be somewhere around low 14's. what kind of tires are you using? i usually lower my tire pressure to about 18-19 psi.

Yes. A lot of H22s hit 2.2x, which then could lead to around mid 14s or so. Just make sure to feather the clutch instead of dumping it, and don't bog at the line.
