This Ish is harder than it looks!!

I wanted to say that I give props to the luders that can get off the line, ha I went to the track for the very first time today, and I couldn't get off the line to save my life. I spun half way through second, over compensated the next time and bogged, and finally got some kind of a launch but was still spinning to bad. My best time was 15.1 and my car is capable of alot alot more.
Better luck next time.

What were your 60' times Matt? At Fontana you should be able to put down some nice solid 2.2 60' times. I put down consistant low 2.3s there.

How's it feel to know you run the same 1/4 mile at that track as someone with 35-40 less HP stock (according to Honda) with MORE mods?

Practice, practice, practice.

I used my e brake, while feathering power to the front wheels at around 6K rpms. On the last yellow light I would drop the e brake as I feathered the clutch out, feeling for traction.

It takes practice, but this method worked well for me.

I also did a small burn out, with a couple of test spins after wards to feel for traction. It helped to clean debris off of the tires.

OOOOHHHHHH your gonna get it when I see you next bish!!!
I know my tires had alot to do with it, there not very good tires, also I have a six puck clutch so it's hard to slip I tried, just got to get used to it. and plus having alot of power too. But I know it's just practice. I'm going again on august 23 to practice some more, maybe I'll get some drag slicks by then.

Oh Yeah and ryan, it's easy to launch when your car can't break the tires loose in a patch of hot butter. ha ha Gotcha bish Now bow down.

I was talking to oinkus in that post. You ran a wee bit faster than I did.

Actually, I can break them loose shifting into 2nd, and often chirp into third.

ahh launching the lude, yes its very tricky took me almost a year to get it down, but now im pretty good at it, hell, i went to the battle of the imports this past weekend, used my verrrrry old radials, no tread whatsoever...and i ripped of a 2.0..in fact i also ripped off a 2.085 on my stock Kuhmo 711 as well..i was like whoa..grip..im waiting for my brand new GForce radials, hoping for some low 1.9s...i agree with VeeTec the ONLY way to launch ours cars is a 5.5 or higher clutch slip, once you learn how to do it right, you can eat people up off the line..i win most of my races off the line.....couple that with verrry god RT and your raping people off the line, some people are 2 cars back at the 60ft mark...sweet

that's the thing, I mean my car is definately a mid 13 second car with nitrous, low 14's without, but much to my disapointment I am not a 14 second driver, ha ha the thing is my clutch just freakin grabs. what kind of clutch do you have? I try slippin and it grabs at half way. ha ha I need some practice for sure. The thing that makes it even harder is that, on the street it's different, I can launch at 4 grand and it will hook, but the launching platform is different at the track, it's so slick. I mean it was funny you should of seen it, I know people were laughing, I was spinning most of the way through second not going anywhere, my oponent said he kept waiting for me to catch him and when he looked back I was still on the launch platform just smokin and that was when I launched at 3500. You gotta give me a few more tips man.PLEASE. the only way I launched somewhat was at 2000 and that was pretty bad too. HELP I gotta do better than 15's when I go next month or I can't show my face around, I have been saying that I have a 13 second car, and I come back with 15.1 dooooohhhhh!!!!!

Then launch low, easy on the gas, then floor it.

That's what I did the last run, and only ran a 15.1 still spinning, It's just gonna take practice, and better reaction times, I mean also my tires are junk, so when I get good tires that will make a world of difference.

R/T means nothing. Just practice. If you still can't do it, I can run your car for you.

correct me if I'm wrong but reaction time does have alot to do with times, the clock starts when the light turns green, so if take to much time to react, that hurts your quarter.

Wrongo bucko. The timer doesn't start until you leave the line. You could sit there for 2 and a half minutes and still run a 14.
