Help! Something Is Wrong With The Lude! - Honda Prelude Forum

went to the track again after just doing full tune-up, motor mount(belt side) and only ran a 10th better. the car runs good sometimes but like crap other times. anyone else have this problem?? and i thought the motor mount caused all the wheel hop but it hasnt changed at all. doesnt matter where you try to launch at it bogs at low rpms an bounces around if you launch with high rpms. ive been in other preludes an none of them get this kinda wheel hop. my best trap speed was 89.85mph an everage was 89.xxmph. best 60 foot was 2.404 and its like vtec doesnt kick in 100%, idk something is wrong. isnt that a low trap? only mod is a cold air. please help me figure out what this could be. and thanks in advance

Sounds like a clutch, tire, and driver issue.

clutch is almost new, around 15k miles and grabs good. i was spinning 2nd, chirping 3 an 4th. if you guys dump the clutch at 5000rpms does it wheel hop the hole time? im tellin you its not driver error, ive been workin on cars for over 6 or 7 years. i can pull 2.0 60fts with my mustang all night...on street tires and its very stiff. thats not easy. idk what is wrong with this car. ive drivin 2 other ludes, dumped the clutch at 5000rpms it wheel hops for a second an then just starts spinning, mine is like someone is pickin the front end up an droppin it over an over. and i was shifting at 7800.next time i go ill take a vid an show you its not my shifting its the car.

Stop dumping, this is a driver error issue. Read our drag section on proper launching with a FWD.

Shift at 8k on the tach. Go about 40% then the other 60% to launch quickly without wheel spin.

Dumping the clutch at 5k with a normal clutch and street tires is your problem.

Yeah my 5gen has always had wheel-hop when I dump the clutch out. Poly engine mounts (sub-frame and firewall sides) apparently help out with this a lot.

Sounds like a bit of driver error to me. I hold around 5k and feather the clutch till you feel the power and then slam it. I have never been to the track so dont take my word on anything but I have gotten really strong launches on the street with little to no hop or spin. But what do i know...
