Going to the track for the 1st time in my new 5g, tips please

Well as many of you know I had a 4g Si 4WS (H23)which was a great car to me. I had i/h/e/ply on it and I ran a 15.2 with a 2.2. 60ft on 17's (making me competent driver IMO), so what should I expect from my new 00 Base with i/gc/agx and ishy RE92's?

I've heard launch at 5200 while slipping, and then I also heard that 4k is a good launch?

Any particular gears to short shift in or just shift at 8k for gears 1-4?

I shift at 8000 for the 1st to 2nd shift and then right at 7600 for the rest.

Does the 7600 in 3rd improve your time vs. 8000 in 3rd?

Get a feel for it...8000 in first, 7800 in second, 7800, in third...
Thats about right for my car...Be smooth in the 3-4 shift, and make sure you don't put it in 2. The 5th gen will sneak up on you like that. By the way, nice color.

You ran 15.2 with the 4th gen with I/H/E/P? You'll be lucky to run 15.6.

No kidding, that really sucks, already had it happen twice, worst feeling ever. I think I have it down now though.

My 4g: 15.242 with i/h/e/p in my Si.

5g: 15.106 @ 91 MPH with a 2.343 60ft I got a 2.2 60 ft before with my H23, damn the RE92's.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the car. I'm thinking with better tires a 15.0 or 14.9 is in my reach.

I'm glad your shocked, you had me worried that the car would pull mid 15's, now I think I can get a 14.9 with some good tires, that would be tight, I will probably need h/e though.

Man you should of let out the tire pressure on the stockers, i rode on 20lbs on the front ones. Got a 2.19 60ft, and a 14.6 run in hot as weather.

nice time and i told you your 5th gen would be faster than your h23 let some air pressure out and launch the same way u did when u ran the 15.0 flat and get exhuast!!

I am impressed with the H22. It is a great reving motor, and I can't get over shifting at 8k vs. around 6800 before, you were right Lewis, VTEC is great.

Exhaust and header in the works this week I hope.

once you have at least one breathing mod, i suggest you shift at 8k. practice getting riiiiight there w/o touching the limiter. if you do hit the cut, dont freak, you should already be thinking its about time to shift so do as you normally would. every now and then i tap the limiter in 2nd and it only kills about .1sec .

why do you guys not go to 8k in 3rd?

for the launch, just feather at about 5000 or so. i do it between 4500-5500 depending on my mood.

i got really good times on my car once i got used to it, and still with less power than you people stock. i am convinced you can pull off flat 15's in this car when you drive it right. a couple people on here have. even tho i have no slip to prove it, i do have the rsm with g sensor

edit - didnt see u already went . great times get the 60ft down and you'll be kicking ass. my best time was a 14.95
