well drag radials help, but theyre not completely nessecary, i run 2.1's on my street tires, and the tires were 80,000 mile continntal touring tires cheap ones, this on an h22 without LSD..once you learn how to realllly launch your car, youll be surprised what it capable of..btw i launch at 5200 or so...and feather the clutch its the only real way to get good 60s, with new radials im sure i could rip off som low 2.0s..peace
on another note, they help alot on the 1-2 shift, my tires lose major traction between that shift, i was running 14.0s consistently, having major traction issues into second gear, putting on my very old radisl didnt help my 60s, they were still 2.2s and 2.1s..but they hooked going into second, thus allowing me to go faster, and run my 13.7s...theres still time in my MPH im going to get some BFG GForce radials, and i think i could run some 13.5s..my best run was an 8.8 @ 83 in the 1/8th but i missed 4th..ugh...and looking at my 13.7 i ran 8.925 @ 80.66..so there ya go..peace
Its no secret that drag radial can improve your 60ft times by alot. With drag radials, you should be able to launch off the line a few thousand RPM's higher than you could before. And shave off .2 to .4 off your et.

Thats only if you launch your Lude like a little Girl! , when im at the track lude owners always come up to me and ask what i launch at, im like 5-5500 and theyre like wtf...im launching at 2500 and it spins too much...good lord..2500 sucks..on another note i launch right off the line already on the High cam, i can hear it engages as i bring my revs up, soooo nice
I agree, you really have to hate your clutch to get a good launch. I was getting 2.1 60 ft's on my Falkens. J1, I think you can get sub 2.0 60ft if you launch at 5000, you just have to have the right foot work. Some people feather the clutch, and some feather the gas.

i feather the gas and the clutch, takes a bit of practice it took me like 5 months to get really good at it....but once i learned i was evry consistent, like id run..and run 14.21 then 14.22, then 14.20, then 14.15....always consistent..peace

im using a stock clutch, still grabs perfectly fine, since i rarely beat on it outside of the track..i NEVER launch hard on the street, good way to attract the local police peeling away from a light..
Yea man, with my falken ziex's I nailed a 2.146 60'. I launch at 5,500 as well, only way to get a good launch. I'm pretty competent in my launches, i can hit 2.2 consistenly. It does take awhile to get it right and you have to vary your technique everytime depending on traction. My best is a 14.451@97.45, i'm going for a 14.3 next time. Do you power shift?
I think a lot of people today in the import scene are way too concerend with purchasing things to make them go faster. It seems like people are buying things to achieve what could be done with good old practice. It is true that a set of drag radials will improve your time. However, perfecting your technique would improve it far greater.
I think part of it is lazyness. People don't want to put the time in to be faster on their own. It takes a lot of time, patience and persistence. And like most of america...people don't want to wait for results...or for it to be hard. Let's take a pill to lose weight...instead of exercising. I believe the same thing applies to our scene.
Who can blame them with all the advertizments shoved down their throats. Horsepower gaurantees and whatnot. There's a difference between a product giving a 10hp increase, and an improved quarter mile time. People use these products as band aid's for their techinique. I believe you should have a solid technique...then reach out to these products to achieve your goal. Once you've hit the wall w/the amount you can push your car with your power level...then go up.
