First time at track--results, i need help

k, so this is my first time goin to the track, i did 3 runs, and well, messed up 3 times. this is also on stock tires(i need new ones)...and i know that i need some work on drivin
i lost the slip for the first one, all i remember was i had a bad launch (revved to 3 and dropped it, got some wheel hop and it bogged down) shifted fine, got 16.4

heres my second run
r/t .61
60 2.513
330 6.766
1/8 10.343
mph 63.53
1000 13.628
1/4 16.28
mph 86.15
this was my best run out of all of them, but i missed third gear, took me like 2 seconds to get it into third (went into neutral, and i had to push in the clutch again and put it into third)

third
.405
2.673
7.206
10.872
68.49
13.95
16.489
89.19
i didn't have as great as a launch, and i missed second, i was more nervous on this run than the other two times, i wasn't thinkin, and when it came to shift into second, i like forgot about everything.

these numbers are really low, do you think i could get mid 15's if i got new tires, and really worked on shifting, and launching.....also, whats the best way to launch, my best method was to rev at 4 and just drop the clutch....i think i can do better, i just need more practice

what do you think? thanks in advance for replies

I'll tell you what I tell my friends and people who ask for advice, there is almost no point in running at the track without decent tires. The following tires are good rated tires for the track:

Good:
Falken Azenis
Yokohama AVS ES100
Khumo Ecsta Supra 712

Best:
BFGoodrich G-force drag radials
X* slicks

*Note: any brand of slicks

Also, with atleast a 2.2 60' time you should see mid to low 15's but the best way of knowing what your car can run is to get a good set of tires and getting some good 60' times. Also, try lowering your tire pressure to around 20psi and work down from there, reduced tire pressure helps prevent less wheel spin and helps you grip more of the floor. Good luck in the future.

When it comes to the launch, try to slip the clutch instead of dropping it. Then let it rip as soon as you feel some decent traction. Also slip the clutch in between shifts to the keep the transition from gear to gear nice and smooth. Good tires are always a plus and try the tire preassure thing. Besides other upgrades and mods, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

Not that I'm a great drag racer or anything but that's what I've been told to do. I'm still learning too. Good luck.

I personally would not recommned slipping the clutch in-between shifts, doing so can lead you to burning the clutch. When drag racing you want to shift as fast as possible to get the lowest possible ET's. Regardless, do what you feel most comfortable with and like stated above PRACTICE!
