'97 Type SH, engine is stock. Tires are 215/40ZR17 Kumho MX's at 20PSI. I think I could drop my 60' time 1-2 tenths with some more practice (this was my 4th and final run), but the ET seems high. I shifted at 8000 on the tach in 1st and 2nd, and was running about 7700RPM in 3rd through the trap. Any opinions on where I could improve if I run again?
yeah your trap speed should be in the 91 -93 range i would think, im a 4th genner....but i know that your traps should be higher, and btw..20psi is way to low for your tires, you should keep them at closer to 30....theyre not made to be run hard at that low of a pressure, ive seen a few bad accident at the track where people run thier street tires too low, just some fyi....also it appears to me that you have 17 inch rims, im sure thyere pretty heavy and they alone will slow you down a good deal
Beats me, I felt my shifts were quick (I did miss 3rd gear in my first run, but that resulted in a 16.2).
Perhaps it is the low tire pressure creating too much resistance or some bad fuel. I did keep the AC and other accessories off, 1/4 tank of fuel, and had no excess weight in the car so I think I eliminated most of the variables.
I think those times all sound about right for a stock SH. Trap speed is right on, but I'm sure your tires were under inflated so you could make a few tenths there. I never raced stock, but with I/E/P I ran consistent 15.0's @ 92mph in my SH. 2.2xx 60 foots too.
Keep up the racing, and start modding!
And remember guys! The SH is heavier!
