First time at Drags!

Ok this was my first time at the track so take it easy on me I have a basicaly stock car expect the NX n20 kit running a 50 shot. So here are my times.

1st run OFF the bottle.

R/T .909
60' 2.670 Launched WAY too low!
330 7.022
1/8 10.526
mph 70.06
1000 13.544
1/4 16.070
mph 90.25

2nd run ON the bottle

R/T .621
60' 2.483
330 6.587
1/8 9.914
mph 74.46
1000 12.721
1/4 15.073
mph 95.98

My 3rd run was not as good as the 2nd run but the 60' was better at 2.3 even that was nothing to the 1.9 that the WRX ran!! His 1/4 mile time was 14.00 @ 95.73 Boy my 3rd run was "faster" than his?! I guess that the AWD really sucks the power at the top end!
All in all had a blast and plan on going more often!! But this weekend is Autocross! That should be fun!!!

A low trap speed indicates good traction and good launch, which the awd WRX will do. You trap speed will be higher because of wheelspin.
Your times will get down once the 60 goot come down. You would probably run a 15.2 15.3 if you get your 60 fts down to a 2.2 off the bottle and the same one second improvement on the bottle, assuming you can get traction. That will be the hardest thing to deal with. The best I can do so far is a 14.1 because of wheelspin.
Keep on practicing. The best thing about your times is that there was a whole second improvement with nitrous.

With a trap of 96 you should definately be able to run a lot bettter with a good launch. I'm guessing around 14.4-6 with a good launch. And what model do you have anyways?

Wordie i'm a 5 spd
And SlvLude it is a 1997 Base.
Yea i'm trying to relax at the line and figure out my launch point. I had really bad wheel hop on one of the runs. All my runs were on a full interior with spare and everything!! But that does not matter casue i just went out with the intention of seeing what i could do and experience the "tree" and everything.
Yea i was just a little nervous and excited and learning. I was hopeing for better times but... It was my first time.

From what Ive seen people ussualy drop a half second in the trips to the track following their first time. So just go back and try to stay calm.

You can use my launching techique.

Stage so use just trip the second staging light (staging shallow)
Hold your rpms to 4500
When you see the second yellow light go out, drop the clutch, but feather the gas(feathering of gas is key to avoid wheelhop).
Once you get moving, floor it.
IF you are on stock tires, set the driver side tire to 20 psi and the passenger side to 18 psi.
All of this = R/T of .5xx and 60 ft of 2.2xx
Good luck.

I would LOVE that, I went to the track and raced for the first time and I pulled a 14.807 @ 95mph, 60' time was 2.326....

Took me 4 runs to get the there --- 15.7, 15.4, 15.2, then 14.8

BTW - if you check my sig my profile is wrong... the nitrous is gone (never was hooked up)... so I have I/E/P/VAFC...

So with w0rdie's theory I can pull a 14.3, that would be a small miracle!!!!!
