FINALLY hit 13s!!

So....for the 05 drag race season i decided to concentrate on my all motor and getting everything down before dropping the bottle back in. Its been a pure struggle with 14.4s and 14.3s being the bes ive been able to pull lately.
14.2, 14.1 14.0 in there....FINALLY this past weekend at CMI (california modified imports) series in sacramento i got into the 13s. 13.9@101 mph.
2.1 60ft with an r/t of .051 (zero tree). I backed it up again twice. I had my BFG street slicks on as usual...and i finally "broke" the tranny to allow me to power shift...ive had a problem in the past with 2nd locking me out unless i granny shifted. Now...i just need to get my usual r/ts back to normal (usually i hit .001-.03..never got that perfect one yet ) and put some slicks make a few more mods to the engine and hopefully ill be in the 12s on my daily driven 5th gen all motor

just needed to share cause this was a huge thing for me seeing as how long ive tried to get there. Weird how i did it in 105+ heat, on a non-prepped track and spinning thru first gear... cant wait for October. the only thing i did different was 1. re-tune the car and 2. didnt give a **** about blowing it up.

Good stuff, that's some good numbers.I am pulling 14.1 with a freshly built motor,no tune and one hell of a good reaction time and traction. Drag slicks for me to..

Congratulations on the 13 sec. run!

If you don't mind me askin', what was your 1/8th mile time?

It's nice to hear about other preludes actually running decent times; congrats.

hopefully ill be in the 12s well into the 12s by the time im done with everything.

Alex, you NEED to come to the track again...you need to come down for a weekend!!!!!

Pearl, youll be in the 13s with a lil practice....whats your setup???

Lon, ill take you for a ride

andyroo, granny shifting is what you would do normally daily driving....power shifting is when you dont let off the gas...you keep it on the floor and shift....finding the right RPM is key.

jm, heres my timeslip.... we dont have 1/8 mile runs here...so im not sure what part of my slip would be considered 1/8 mile.... im assuming the 5.953? If you know can you tell me?

H22Power is correct: the 9.057 @ 80.924 mph is your 1/8th mile.

I must say that's an impressive speed for a 9.0 second e.t. I run 8.8 and 8.9 second e.t.'s in the 1/8th @ only 78 or 79 mph. At almost 81 mph you must be making some serious horsepower, but you seem to be having trouble off the line. I'm sure you can improve upon your 2.198 60ft.

I see that you're using BFG drag radials, and while I think those are great, I must say that once I made the change to Mickey Thompson drag slicks, there was no going back for me. With a 60 ft. under 2.0 seconds you should see some real improvement at the other end of the track.

Again, congratulations, I know what it feels like to accomplish something like this.

Her car is basically stock, but like Danicia Patrick, she cheats by being lighter than all of us.

Justin,
thanks for the cheers. I agree about my 60 ft...its always been my weak spot. my r/ts have always been my strong point and my traps are usually somewhere between 101-107. before i was on street tires and now my street slicks (which are part time street tires ) but ive actually improved just this past event on the 60 ft. (focused the weekend more on experementing than competing) usually im a 2.2 or 2.3. I REALLY DID NOT expect to hit 13s once let alone a few times on the BFGs...never seen it done on a lude. ill upgrade eventually....just lazy right now to change the studs and bearings. MAYBE by next event ill put slicks on there .

Quiet_storm,
i have ...
AEM CAI, Mugen header, Stock exhaust with Blacktrax ECS, Blacktrax flat valves, JUN springs, retainers, cams and cam gears (THANKS ADAM), crower rods, wiseco pisons stock bore GE block. i ported the head, I put the motor together myself and tuned the car myself. P28 on hondata s200.

Jesse.....dont cha know....every 50lbs is a 10th of a second.... dont tell everyone my secret .

BTW... someone told me to mention that....1. i had a half of a tank of gas....and 2. the car weighed in at 2980lbs with out me in it. full interior etc etc blah blah. haha....does this info really make a difference?

VERY nice times, congrats! Cannot wait to see some faster times by next year

On an off note.. Don't you just love that bug? The one that makes you spend any spare change you have to get a hundreth of second off in the 1/4?

Congratulations, I guess the cooler weather is helping.

What kind of shocks do you have? Are they adjustable? Have you played with different settings with the suspension specifically for the track?

Do you have the breakdown of the run? I'd love to see how it changed through each marker.

Again, congratulations.

Thanks Justin,

i have Zeal coilovers now. they are 6 way dampening and fully adjustable height.

the weather was actually around 104 at the track that day so there was no real change in weather, if there was i know i could have done a lot better. honestly im crediting my new suspension for my times. Im doing a write up in product reviews for the suspension, so ill put a lil more details in that thread about the settings i used. i only changed them once tho during the race. i wish i had a little more track time, but saturday was packed and i didnt get as many time trial runs as usual, and sunday was eliminations...i had 2 practice runs 1 on a pro tree that messed up my r/t but i still ran 13.9 with a .98 r/t. I was eliminated first round because i broke out. i dialed in at 13.9 to play it safe...the other guy broke out too just by less so he took the win.
the 13.8 passes are scanned and will up on our server soon but i didnt scan the 13.7 because i wasnt able to back that up, so in my eyes its not a solid 13.7 yet.

Nonsense!! We're not talkin' about NHRA world records here. If you ran a 13.7, then by all means, you have the right to say that.

How did you like the pro tree? I havent' had the chance to race with one yet, but I'm looking for the opportunity. Of course, I'm not much of a bracket racer, but I'd still like to try it out.

Look forward to seeing the slip.

Justin

NHRA world records hehe i doubt that but thanks for the confidence boost

pro tree was cool... just odd because i wasnt expecting it. they forgot to reset it from the night before. it was funny because the guy i was stagged with and i looked at each other and then looked back and went.
