97 base on the 1/4mile

Hi all.later today i am going to my local track for the first time to see what i can do in the 1/4 mile.I know our ludes arent drag cars so im not expecting a whole lot.im just doing this because im curious and it sounds like itll be a lot of fun.Im also going with my friend who has an 02 stang GT.you can see my mods from my sig and im running about 185-190whp on 93 octane.I am running with my Falken Z rated tires and keeping everything in the car except the spare tire.I will update everyone later tonight and let you all know how it goes.any last minute drag tips are welcome.ive worked on my launch so i should be ok there.

Going to ORP? I used to go every Tuesday night when I had my Lightning.

Advice: Drive around the burnout box if you're on street tires. There's nothing more pathetic than a fwd car w/ the e-brake engaged, trying do a sweet burnout in the box.

Yep headin up to ORP and I wasnt planning on burning out since these are my street tires.I tried to get indylude18 to come but he doesnt want to run his car and i figured you wouldnt want to since its a drive for you.its only about 10 min for me straight up Raceway Rd.

It's probably over three hours to Clermont for me. It would be easier for me to head over to Morocco. You should check it out sometime. All the big boys come down from Chicago.

Makes Indy look like a joke.

well im back from the track and i am disappointed.I failed as a driver and a prelude owner.i apologize to each and every member of this forum.I ran 4 times and my best was a 16.54.the only thing i can take comfort in is that this was my first ever time drag racing so my launches werent very good.but on a good note on the way home i raced a celica GTS and beat it.ill do better next time guys.try not to rub it in too much

Oh well. Call it a learning experience...

I'm almost afraid of the answer to this, but what was your worst time?

^You must have been there on a good night, because the track prep usually sucks.

Did you see a red Gen 1 Lightning w/ a white topper? He runs mid-high 10's.

nope.there was a guy who ran his minivan lol, an amazing looking turbo s14 240, and an older rx-7 that ran mid 13's!those were the most memorable rides.and yes the track was way sticky.i launched from 4,500 rpm and got instant traction insted of a little wheelspin which ive been told is what u want
