1st Time at Track, Horrible Times

This was the first time i have ever took my car to the track, and it also was my first time ever going to a track . My times were horrible. No traction at all.

1st Time EVER 19.092@78.50MPH
2nd Time 17.753@79.41MPH
3rd Time 16.577@87.83MPH
4th Time 16.011@83.33MPH
5th Time 17.012@85.53MPH
6th Time 16.125@87.30MPH
7th Time 16.082@88.29MPH

almost everyone had no traction. I saw a WRX STi run a best of 13.7 and i saw a 00 Si run a best of 16.6, also some talon running constant 19's. So i guess i wasnt just the one with no traction. My friend also said this was the worst traction he ever got.

I drive a 00 SH with Ebay CAI and a CF hood.

Wow, those are pretty bad. I did not do too well my first time too.
My best time was a 16.1 at 88mph. Also got 16.4's I had 3 runs.
My second time at the track, I did a little better 15.8 at 89.6mph with a 2.57 60ft. Also, 90+ deg. temp. dont help. Still I was dissapointed with the times especially the 60 foot which is the key. What was yours? What tires due you have?
Also, what rpm due you shift at? With no launch at all, I got 16.4(No whelspin, normal takeoff). Even with a bad launch you should get in the 15's. Dont worry the second time you will due much better

Yes, it will get much better. Not too long ago, I posted my horrible 16.6 and 16.7 times on here. After getting some tips and researching a bit, I learned how to drive it better and went back out two weeks later. I then ran 4 15.8's. I still have room to improve but I was much happier.

Yesterday i went back to the track and traction was pretty good. heres my best run. Also keep in mind that this is my second time ever at the track.

R/T .669
60' 2.375
330 6.510
1/8 9.880
MPH 72.51
1000 12.805
1/4 15.250
MPH 91.16

I did this with only an Ebay CAI. Full interior, all my junk was in my trunk. Next time, im gonna take out my back seat, spare tire, empty my trunk, maybe take off my rear bumber, reset ECU prior to race, use some octane booster, and lower my tire PSI for more grip. Do you guys think i can hit a 14.999 or so? Also my launch wasnt very great, i just reved to about 3.5K and dump the clutch.

you can tell your launch wasn't all that whippy from your 60" times. Do you drive a 5 speed?

I drive a 2000 Prelude Type SH. My tires are Ultra HPR Radial G/T set at 27PSI. When i launch i rev to about 3.5K to 4K and just drop the clutch. Very minimal tire spin and seems to work pretty well.

judging by your 60 foots. you are either spinning really bad or bogging. and since you said you get minimal wheelspin.

my advice would be 4500-5000 rpm rev with a little slip added in and tire pressure down to 22-24 psi
