So, it's been plaguing me for sometime now, whether or not I will keep my Prelude. For those of you who don't know, it's an almost (are they ever really completed?) fully prepped track car with tons of modifications and lots of future potential still remaining in it. The car is in beautiful condition and is very well preparred with nothing kludged or scrimped on.
My wife and I are starting a family and building a new home in the city (no more room for trucks and trailers and such) and the track events I get to go to are currently few and far between. My desire to do events has also waned with the less and less I actually drive the car.
I had it out last Friday for a lapping day and I'm not sure the amount of effort required to get out to the track and have a full day of lapping is worth the cost of the effort put into prepping the car for the event or even the long drive to the track.
So I'm left at a crossroads in life - I think I know the answer, but should sell my car and move on, no longer to do any more motorsport activities? I don't think my heart is in it any longer.
So where do I go from here? Anyone wanna buy an awesome Prelude??
How about put it back to stock (or close to it), and keeping it? I know how you feel though...I recently became a Dad, so my priorities have changed a bit.

I know the feeling... I have a almost track-ready Civic that I haven't touched, let alone drive in over 2 years. I got such a good price on it that I can't bring myself to sell it.
It's not that I don't want to fix it and get out there, it's just that the STS car build is taking all of my time, and winning a championship is within grasp with that. The Civic race car is just a lapping car at this point. I just realized that I haven't been to a track day in over 2 years, WTH!!!!
It sounds like you got your priorities straight and you are probably making the best decision for you and your family, but I can understand how hard it is to let something go you worked so hard on.
Brian, I'd really say just keep it. You're going to lose a ton by selling. If you decide you want to do a track event now and then, you'll have it.
Since having a kiddo, I'm not sure I'd go out and do a bunch of track days without a fully prepared car. Call me paranoid, but I want to be as safe as possible (although I still don't own a HANS device. ).
That...and you never know. Your kid could be a driving prodigy. There is a local at Hallett. He is 13, and races a heavily moddified FD RX7. He is fast. Been driving since he was 8.

Hello everyone - I thought it might be time to ressurect this post. My name is Andy and my father is actually the one who ended up buying Brian's car. I also have a track prepped 2000 Civic Si that I have been working on since new.
Brian and I met several years ago at the track and I always admired his car - we were both into clean style and the "more go than show" school of thought. I will be helping my father complete the project over the next couple of years while I show him the art of lapping at speed.
I still keep in contact with Brian and will be sure the Prelude is enjoyed and maintained with love! I have a fair bit to learn about this chassis but look forward to chatting with you guys.
