sorry I got busy working on my car. I just got done installing a prototype (V3.0) of the LAC bushing. Everything looks good, and I'm going to talk with the machine shop next week about having 5 or 10 sets made up. I took some pics of the prototype kit this week and I will post them up in the next day or 2. (update)See link below for more info in front LCA bushing kit:
Well I recieved mine today and will be installing them soon. My only feedback on the kit is about having the stock collars cut & chamfered. I don't know how much it'd add to cost, but the kit would be awesome if it already had precut/machined collars. For me, I have to go and order a set from honda, to have machined, because this is my only car and can't have the downtime. I'm also assuming that the length of the collar is responsible for the ammount of caster. What would be recommended to use as a shim/spacer, if you wanted to adjust the ammount of caster? Also, is there a recommended lb/ft to torque the bolts down?

the 5 bolts that hold the kit in should be <edit> 17-20ft/lbs, and make sure to re-torque after the 1st few test drives.<edit>. The big bolt on the end of the radius rod should be 50ft-lbs. You get about max caster if you cut them in half, you don't want any more than that or the LCA will be put at too much of an angle. If you want less caster (not sure why), then I would use some stainless steel washers.
I can make you up some collars and ship them to you, I think I have some stainless steel stock of the right size. If I do does $25 shipped sound fair?
I read through the posts and didnt notice anyone with a SH
I highly doubt it. The radius rods on the SH are completely different from the Base. Its not near as much of a necessity on an SH as a result of the different design. The mount bushing is perpendicular to the one on the base. You can get a poly bushing from Energy and be in fine shape IMO.
MRW, Are you sure 30ft-lbs is right for those little bolts 1/4" bolts. M6's which are close to 1/4" in size, are typically torqued to 12 Nm (or 9ft-lbs) and fail at 20Nm min. I torqued each bolt to 18ft-lbs, I tried to go to 20ft-lbs and couldn't hit that, I only felt the bolt elongate.
Other than that, The car feels great! I also adjusted the toe to 1/16" out. On initial turn in I still have some light understeer, but the car quickly catches up to Neutral. I didn't try adding any more rear damping, that might have done the trick. I'll be adding solid rear end links in a week or so. That should help too by getting rid of some compliance in the rear.
I hear some stuff clunk on the first 100ft of my test drive, I should probably go back and torque those bolts soon...
I thought that going to 18Nm should be ok since there's the silicone thingie on the nut which eats up 1-2 Nm without giving you any load. (know what I mean?).
The last post for these is 2006, I really need these for my lude, are you still making/selling these? Or does anyone know about these mounts or any polyurethane bushings for the radius rod on a base 99? My passenger side is all worn out, and it didn't help the idiot at the alignment shop put the old abused bushing in backwards and destroyed it, so now my wheel is all over the place, lol. but thanks much!
Petern, so you recommend staying away from the spherical bearing, and using OEM instead? I thinker I'd prefer that route also and avoid extra yearly maintainence. Lol I'd really really like to get some poly bushings but the only ones I have been able to find are for SH only. Do you know any place to get an upgraded alternative for the base model BB6? Thanks
Well my bushings now are in need of replacing. I mean ultimately I'd like to upgrade all
the bushings in my suspension to help compliment my coilovers and gain an improvement in handling and hopefully some from a stop traction for the occasional 1/4 runs. But my radius rod bushings are bad now so I'd like to start there and get them replaced asap. I was just hopin to find an upgrade over OEM, and a longer lasting product than the spherical bearing
