rear strut bar.

my question is this, do rear strut bars actually help? i've read where people swear by rear sway bars, but what about the strut bars? my car is a daily driver with some auto cross thrown in.

just to clarify... rear strut bars goes up top in the actual trunk, rear sway bars actually go under the car... correct?

worth it or not?

Correct. I have both and noticed almost no difference with strut bars. A fat rear sway bar is the way to go. The sway bar is definately worth the money.

i could tell a little bit of a difference w/ the front strut bar, but really none w/ the back.
i've always heard that a nice rear sway bar makes the difference, i'm just waiting on a good deal

Progress or Suspension Techniques are the ones to have. I personally have front and rear sway bars from ST. the only other chassis brace upgrade that I noticed a difference in was the Tanabe front lower chassis brace. That helped with the oversteer problems inherient in the FWD. Also putting a thicker sway bar up front makes the car feel "planted" but it doesn't help cornering on technical courses it actually makes it worse. However it provides excellent stability in high speed corners and is ok for daily driving and the occasional autocross. But if your truely looking to make your car handle better stay away from the front sway bar, just get an thicker rear one and stick with the OEM front.

so the thought is the rear upper strut bar really does nothing for the car, correct?

I wouldn't go that far and say it does nothing. It's just not as noticeable as slapping on a stiff rear sway bar, or better shocks and springs.

spend your money on something more useful and a upper rear strut bar. Maybe brake pads, anti-sway bars, a good alignment, good front upper strut bar, just to name a few. PM me

Eh, I had to remove my Neuspeed upper front bar when I changed to Koni 2812 shocks, and I didn't notice any appreciable difference without the bar.

i got good front strut tower bar. upgrade brake pads, lines, and fluid. just installed GC w/ Koni's. the rear sway bar is comming to question because of system design. yes i know you cant have your cake and eat it too, but i enjoy music. however i want a good handling car above a killer/show system.

I'd say don't go with the rear strut bar if you're trying to fit a sub somewhere, however, if you're going with 10s, you may be able to get a truck box that would fit behind the bar. Maybe then, you could have your cake and eat it too?

I would spend your money on something else besides the rear strut tower bar. I didn't even notice any difference after I removed it.

I did notice a difference on my stock suspension Prelude when I first installed it. Later on I removed it when I had GC's on the car and there wasn't that big of a difference. However, when I removed the GC's and went back to stock I again noticed a difference when I added the bar. I'm not sure if the stiffer spring rates "hide" the feeling of the front strut tower bar or what.

for $85 my friend is going to fabricate me a front upper strut bar, rear upper strut bar, and a rear lower strut bar out of 3/4" x .084 tubing The best part about it is the front strut bar will be a three-point I'll let you guys know how they turn out as he might want to produce and sell them.

OT: but you are here around detroit, mi? I'm here too! Didn't know there were many other PO ppl here. Perhaps a local meet is in order, and I should check out those bars too, can he make a set for me also?
